Advantages: Full qwerty keyboard

Disadvantages: Hard to repair faults

RIM go all grown up with one of their latest BlackBerry models, the BlackBerry Bold (9000).

Although bigger than a normal mobile phone handset or the BlackBerry Pearl, this device offers a full QWERTY keyboard. This gives immediate benefits - the complications of the Pearl's QWERTY predictive text are gone and it's an instant pick up and use keyboard for regular users of computers.

The handset feels less plastic than its predecessors and is more robust. When using the buttons it actually feels like you are clicking them unlike previous models.

The software has moved up another level too. Gone are the slightly cartoon icons with more professional looking ones. All the same software features are included as before, with additions for things like Wi-Fi access.

The downside of this device is that if the hardware goes wrong then it's likely the device will have to be replaced. Earlier models were very easy to take apart, even for novice users, to replace faulty parts (the scroll button for example), but this device is much more solid and it's probably best that a professional looks at hardware faults on this device.

However, this is definitely one of the better BlackBerries that I've used.

Summary: Best blackberry yet!

While this is nicely written, these are very complex items and have so many things you can do with them, I'm surprised you didn't say more about it. I also would have found this more useful if you had mentioned how well it works as a phone.
