Advantages: Stylish & Cosmopolitan

Disadvantages: Hard to text, boring and plain.

At first glance, people tend to mistake the Blackberry 9780 for the older version, 9700. Obviously they both look the same, and I will bluntly state that they can be classified as the same phone; with the 9780 being a tad newer, but definitely more pointless.

I purchased the BB from Cex in London a few months ago. I was surprised to see how many were going for sale, it felt like they were throwing them away. This led me to insinuate that the phone had not been a success on the market, but me, being a technology geek had to get one anyway. I replaced my iPhone and boy do I regret it.

But I thought, what could go wrong?

It is obviously very aesthetically pleasing and it feels moulded to your hands. The whole "cosmopolitan" look is defined through owning a Blackberry.

The leathery back of the phone provides a nice feel to it, especially when you're texting. Unlike the iPhone, you feel a certain element of grip towards it which. This means that it won't slip out of your hands if you're relaxed with it. It has very smooth edges and fits the BB pouch well. Unlike the previous Bold's, the phone has decreased in size which allows you to slip it into your pocket when need be.

The Camera is also amazingly fast, with its 5 megapixel camera. I was able to take close ups of my dog with ease and uploaded them quickly on facebook for everyone to see. This is the major defining feature that differentiates it with its predecessor.

The start up is very slow, you need to get used the new interface of the latest BB operating system. But once you have gotten used to that, you find that the interface is very easy to use. By this, the scroller flows from application to application very easily. You feel it become part of you and that's what the success comes from. Obviously, the facade of the "new phone" feel was lost after a few hours and I realised that this phone was just a business phone. It is much like the older Blackberrys, with its primary function of texting.

I found texting an issue as the keys have been decreased to make up for the small size of it. Unlike the BB 9000, which is rather chunky and blocky, it still provided a lot of room for you to be able to text easily. The keys were spaced apart unlike this. I found it very difficult, especially with the small space bar at the bottom.

As it was a white BB, I soon realised that the phone got dirtier and dirtier, which just made it not pleasing to the eye.

To conclude, I wish I stayed with my beloved iPhone. Oh how I miss it! I feel that the interface of the iPhone was a lot easier to use than the Blackberry. The blackberry is boring & for businessmen. There provides little entertainment and takes a while to get used to.
