Advantages: good spec , quality applications and utilities
Disadvantages: alt key badly placed
i have just purchased a blackberry bold , i took some time to choose between that and an iphone ,
i wanted a phone that i could access the internet from , get hotmail on and play songs,
obviously both phones can do both, so it was a case of going to the retailers and holding and testing the phones,
this is what i found ,
i first held an iphone and i was impressed by the look and feel , i was also impressed by the functionality and the applications it had,
and it did all the things i needed ,
i then went to my t mobile dealer to try the blackberry bold,
i was more impressed by this on first look and feel , it feels imo more substantial and classy ,
there was no difference in price , as both were free on my contract £35 pm
and both gave appx 600 minutes and unlimited texts,
i was swayed to the blackberry by its traditional funcionality and robustness,
i signed on the dotted line ,
when i got home linking to my email was a doddle, as was setting up and keeping my original telephone no,
first impressions were that everything in the menus is set out logically . navigation is via a trackball in the center of the face , the keys are sufficiently spaced even for my large fingers .
you just need to think blackberry , ie the messaging button will take you to sms email and mms etc,
copying over contacts etc from my pc to blackberry is a bit fiddley , you do get a usb supplied , the fiddly bit is the software interface, you would need to be pc savvy to do this first time,
the phone itself is great , the video is really good quality as is the camera at 3 million megapixels,
the quality of sound and music production are really good too,
blackberry email is instant , tried it from a work pc and my sons laptop,
the internet is ok its quite fast ( the bold is on 3g ) or you can easily jump onto your wifi if you need to, if 3g is down for any reason you can also jump to edge , or 2.5 g,
i am trying to bookmark as many " for mobile " websites as the standard websites are a bit small on the app 2.5 inch screeen . although there is a zoom function .
the gps is functional rather than fancy ,
theres quite a few other applications too like word processor clock calculator etc etc, and loads of tones to play with,
i would recomend the blackberry bold, i now wonder what i did without 24/7 acces to email and internet,
i love , instant access and freedom of email and internet on the go,
i would change,,,,,,,,,,,,, nothing yet
could be better,,,,,,,,,, the alt key needs to be at the side of the phone , so when you need to select a number instead of a letter you dont need to cram two hand on the key board,
Summary: what did i do before this arrived
