Advantages: easy to use, bbm, looks great, good battery life, excellent operating system, emails
Disadvantages: Camera, plastic bezel, speakerphone, takes time to get used to, disappointing screen
I have been an avid phone user for over 10 years now and know quite a bit about them. I purchased this Blackberry about 6 months ago and have been pleasantly surprised on the phone.
As you open the box you will get all the accessories you need except a case. This means you can use it straight away out of the box. Unlike the iPhone there is no need for setting up and syncing, just insert the sim card and your done!
At first the phone feels well-built but light at the same time. As well as this the outer bezel seems to be made out of metal but is infact silver coloured plastic which left me somewhat dissapointed. The buttons are very easy to use but take about a week to get used to. So does the trackball but is far more useful than some of the previous ones.
BBM and email are what make this phone go the distance and beat other competitors. I am not saying the others don't have email, but the 9300 makes it effortless and is much quicker than turning to your computer. There is also a host of apps to keep you busy at the Blackberry App World. The social networking aspect and features are vast , the Blackberry makes them a furthermore fun experience. However I would like to see more game and news apps in the future. The screen could be better as watching youtube and other videos can be a bit of a pain, the screen simply cannot handle it. Other phones have better resolution such as the iPhone which makes this seem like a fuzzy mess at times. Overall though, emails and apps are displayed quite well and the user interface is a breeze.
The camera is only 2 megapixels and for a phone of this price, that is quite unsatisfactory. However I didn't buy this for the camera much like most people. The 3.5mm headphone jack makes listening to music and watching videos a breeze, as does the dedicated media controls located on the top of the phone. I have dropped this phone a lot of times and as there are some scratches the phone has no major defects. I do recommend in getting a screen protector though.
The battery is surprising as well, lasting me about 4-5 days on fairly frequent usage. The phone quality itself is fine but the speakerphone has left many people on the other end bemused as the line became muffled.
Overall the qwerty keepad makes this phone simple to use and browsing the web practical. The camera is not a big problem but could be improved.
Summary: Some good features and great qwerty keyboard outweigh the disappointing camera and screen.
