Advantages: Social features, design and apps.

Disadvantages: The camera's not amazing, but it's not a downer for me...

For so long I have wanted a Blackberry smartphone, which made the excitement unbearable when I recieved it as a birthday gift. I remember it like it was yesterday, carefully opeing the little black box, to find my beautiful Blackberry waiting for me to love it, which I do! I got the white 9300 Blackberry bold 3G. I did so much research before getting it, making me already an expert on the phones features.
On opening the box and inserting my sim, my network required a £5 payment for the Blackberry services: BBM, BB app world and email features. All Blackberry phones are available on a wide range of network providers, contract or pay as you go. I got mine on Pay as you go, it's just so much more simple that way, so extra fees and credit when you want it.

On first impressions, the phone looks classy, smart and well designed. When starting the phone up, you have to wait for a progress bar to fill so the phone can set up and install new Blackberry systems.
The phone has a trackpad scroller directly under the screen, like most phones. This Blackberry phone is not touchscreen, nor does it have any touchscreen features; therefore lacking apps such as angry birds and stupid zombies (random examples). The phone comes equiped with Blackberry app world, which has thousads of free and paid for applications for the users enjoyment. I have found things like ispeech translator and angry farm quite interesting apps.

As you may already know, Blackberry messenger, or BBM, is a universal free social chat for all Blackberry owners. Each BB phone comes with a pin unique to the device, which is entered, or scanned, into another BB for the free chat service. BBM is certainly one of my favourite things about the BB, I can write to all my friends and swap pictures, videos and voice notes for free via the char messages. There is currently no cost for the use of BBM and other BB features. You can organise your contacts into groups which makes the proccess more easy and managable.

The camera on the BB bold 9300 3G is not amazing, 2 MP. Most phones have a better quality camera, but if you're buying a phone for the camera then don't buy this one. The phone has both a capture camera and video camera. The phones memory without an external source is low, but most BB packages include a memory card, mine came with a 2GB card which was easily inserted into the back ot the phone, behind the battery. A BB phone is a social phone, it's main features are bent around social networking and business. I have my email delivered directly to my messages on my phone, separated from text messages so it's not too confusing.

The Blackberry comes with Facebook, MSN, Yahho messenger and google as built in apps. The phones has the capability to be 3G, enabling a faster and more reliable internet service. You can also connect to local wifi conections which I do on my Sky box at home for free. I love being able to use my phone as a source of information, talking for free, calling and fb status updates. In my opinion, this phone is perfect for someone on the go, perhaps a business person; I guess that's why it's called a smartphone *cringe*

The Blackberry phones have an LED light which flashes when you have a mobile notification. You can download an app which enables the light to flash different colours which I think is really cool.
you can turn this on and off. You can also make it flash a different colour for separate contacts, which is useful when you are not expecting a call; you will know who it is :)

You can pick up a Blackberry Smartphone in any local mobile phone suppliers for the price of £159.99. Mine was on offer at Phones4u. The phones don't come with a case, however they do come with economy headphones, charger and a USB cable. BB phones are easily sync'd with a computer for further personalisation. The price may vary depending on the store, product version and running version.

Summary: An amazing piece of kit, a definite recommendation fro me!
