Blackberry Pearl 3G 9105
Advantages: Millions of advantages, does so many things
Disadvantages: Small keypad, can be fiddly
I have had my Blackberry 9105 for 15 months, it is my first and only Blackberry and I am afraid to say that it might be my last one.
On a positive note, the phone looks impressive, it is quite sturdy and although I always meant to get a cover for it I have not bothered, it bounces around in my handbag and to be fair looks as good as new.
The battery lasts for a couple days, before it needs charging, which is superb - although I am not a big phone internet user, so I would not like to comment on the battery if you were to be surfing the net regularly.
You need to set up a blackberry account initially to download apps, which is quite simple - I have got Ebay, Facebook and Twitter set up on my phone, ready for use. I set up my googlemail email account to use with this phone and it is good to see a notification when I get a new email.
I have to say though, to be honest, I find the phone rather fiddly, the screen is small and the buttons are tiny, I only have small fingers but to send a text or tap in a web address, I find myself regularly tapping in the wrong buttons - now this could just be me, but when my hubby has used my phone his finger covers more than one button at a time.
The instant messenger for Blackberry is very good, being able to get in touch with other Blackberry users at no extra cost is a definate bonus, I rate this very highly.
The camera on the phone gives pretty good defination, but the screen on the phone is small, so it is not until you upload the pictures onto the PC that you see them at their best, but there again that is not a problem in the slightest.
This phone was free on a contract, my contract is expiring this month and Orange are sending me a PAYG sim card, which I will use to keep the phone live for a while..
I have found that the Blackberry internet, 3G is not very good in the rural area where I live, but have set up the phone so it works on my wifi when I am at home, and this is something I have found very useful at times, so for that reason alone I will keep my phone on at home.
I think there are much better models of Blackberry on the market, but for these you would have to pay considerably more for. This model almost feels like a "starter" phone
In summary, a great phone, seems robust, many brilliant functions - of which I have hardly scratched the surface, but it's downside for me is that it is quite fiddly.
The button "5" stopped working recently, which has been an issue and helped me make the final decision in changing phone, but after taking the battery out and giving a good air blast, this seems to have been rectified now.
Thank you for taking the time to read this review
Summary: A good phone, a bit fiddly but does so much
