Advantages: Qwerty keyboard, sleek design and packed with essential features
Disadvantages: Slippery casing
The HTC ChaCha combines touch screen technology with a full Qwerty keyboard. After persevering for several months with a Samsung Galaxy, which was purely touch screen and almost impossible to text from (unless you have tiny fingers and the patience of a saint), I was desperate for a phone with a Qwerty keyboard. But I also wanted a phone with the Android operating system, which ruled out buying a BlackBerry. After doing extensive research, the HTC ChaCha ticked all the boxes and had lots of good reviews all over the internet.
The Qwerty keyboard is perfectly spaced and easy to use, with a separate menu for special symbols. There is also a dedicated Facebook button at the bottom of the phone that allows you to access your account quickly. The touch screen is used for most things, aside from typing texts and emails, and comes complete with hot spots for quickly accessing menus and search facilities.
The camera is a respectable 5mp and can be used as a traditional or front-facing camera (which also serves as a mirror). Unfortunately, there isn't much phone memory to spare once you've installed the basics, but you can maximize the space by moving most of the applications to your SD card.
The sleek outer design looks well-made and good quality, and is just the right size to hold. Initially, I found the phone to be a bit too slippery for texting, but using a rubber skin to cover the back of the phone and prevent slipping has solved the problem.
Overall, the HTC ChaCha is my favourite phone so far for its ease of use and having all the features that I need.
Summary: A good quality Android phone with a Qwerty keyboard and touch screen technology
