Advantages: Very fast, Looks great, Good new UI
Disadvantages: Satisfactory camera, Mine was faulty
Having had both an HTC Diamond and a Sony Xperia X1, I decided to buy the Diamond 2 as it comes with a free upgrade to windows mobile 6.5 as soon as it's released.
The current user-interface is great, with slight improvements on the old diamond UI. There are tabs along the bottom you can slide along to acces time, contacts, weather, stocks, photos and music.
HTC has also decided to do without more ugly generic windows mobile interface by removing the normal start menu and making one of its own ad also by having a customised settings menu, although the normal one is still accessible.
Overall the phone is great, very fast to respond, the screen is very crisp and very responsive for a resistive touch screen. The camera is quite good, although not as good as on the Xperia. It lacks any form of flash or illumination although the touch focus is a good feature.
However I have returned this phone as it would not be recognised by my laptop when connected by usb. Having researched this i discovered quite a few htc phones have had this problem and its a case of faulty hardware. Im hoping for a replacement next week.
Summary: A great new phone from HTC

- 25/11/09 Nice review - I love the User Interface HTC have designed for this phone and think it hides the ugly "under belly" of Windows Mobile really well. Agree with your comment regarding the responsiveness of the touch screen - it is really good "for a resistive touch screen". |
