iPhone 3GS 8GB
Advantages: easy to use, easy to update, large choice of apps
Disadvantages: no flash, only 3mp camera
I decided to get an Iphone 3GS purely because my phone was due an upgrade and this was one of the few brands/models I had heard of since I don't keep very up to date with technology. I had previously used a BlackBerry storm which was frustratingly prone to freezing, switching itself off and not allowing me to text, so I decided to steer away from Blackberry phones.
Set up: I had to connect my iphone to a computer which has itunes installed. This is a free download and takes a few minutes. The set up is fairly simple after this. The sim card is placed in a small slot at the top of the phone which requires a pin or something small and pointed to get it out. This is wonderfully secure but frustrating if you get a sim error and you are out and about. Connecting to App Store requires bank details so they can bill you for any paid app's you download.
Updates: There have been a few software updates for the iphone, you are limited in what apps you can download if you don't update your phone when a new version of itunes is available, so it's worthwhile connecting it to your laptop/PC every once in a while to check for new software. App updates can be done by visiting the app store on your iphone, it informs you of all updates due there and updates generally are very quick.
Ease of use: Wonderful. I was really surprised at how easy to use the iphone was. App download is simple and I've yet to come across one which is difficult to use. To delete apps, you just hold the app icon until your app library "shakes" then click to delete the appropriate app, really simple. The choice of apps is also phenomenal, I think I only have 2 paid apps as a lot are free and I have yet to think of something that there isn't an app available for. Easy to sort apps and create folders for them, also. It's simple to switch between screens, just swipe.
Camera: This is the only feature that I haven't been overly impressed with. There is no flash and i think that it is only about 3 megapixels picture quality.
Battery life: The iphone battery usually lasts me the day if I remember to close down any apps that are running in the background. It's easy for me to forget to do this, and this has reulted in my battery life getting eat up very quikcly.
Summary: brilliant phone
