Nokia C3: Handy for texting
Member Name: illusiveman
Advantages: QWERTY Keyboard
Disadvantages: Small buttons, specialized USB Port
-When I bought this phone and what made me decide to buy it-
I first read about this phone online shortly before Christmas 2010 as I owned a touch screen phone at the time that I was dissatisfied with so I decided that I wanted a phone with standard buttons.
Once I decided that this would be my next phone I added it to my Christmas list and received it Christmas Day, I used it for just under two years until I replaced it with an Android phone.
This phone has a QWERTY style keyboard so is handy for texting without having to press a certain number repeatedly to type out messages. It also comes in handy for browsing the internet when you need to log in to a website.
The text messages in this phone display as conversations like most Android phones do nowadays. This also makes it easier for you to find an old message from a specific contact without having to scroll through hundreds of forgotten messages.
The camera I believe is 2MP (Mega Pixels) and although isn't the best quality I still found it very useful for taking photos while traveling, the phone also has a video built in and although I haven't used it a lot it comes in handy when you are messing about with your friends or want to grab a quick recording of something that may be happening nearby.
The phone has internal storage of about 55Mb which isn't much but does include a 2Gb MicroSD card and has support for up to 8Gb, I had a 4gb card in mine and it was more than enough for all my pictures that I'd taken, videos I might have recorded or downloaded off the internet.
Bluetooth is built into the phone to allow you to transfer files to another device such as another phone or your computer, although it isn't very fast it still comes in handy if you just want to transfer a photo to a friend's phone who might be sitting in the same room as you.
WI-Fi connectivity is also built in to allow you to connect to the internet when connected to your home WI-Fi connection or at a hotspot such as a train station, airport or a service station.
There is a USB port which I believe is on the bottom of the phone (It's been a while since I've used the phone so I'm not 100% sure on that one). The USB will allow you to transfer your files to and from the device quicker than Bluetooth and comes in handy when you might have filled your phone up with lots of files such as photos and videos.
The battery on this phone I've found lasted me about a week, sometimes longer but the phone would constantly be nagging me to charge it after 7 days, this is still better than other phones where I've found the battery might only last 3 days at the most.
I believe three games are pre-installed on this phone which are Bounced, Sudoku and another game I can't remember the name of, it also includes apps such as the calculator and the internet browser (Opera Mini)
The internet browser included with this phone is Opera Mini which is an okay browser but I found I didn't use it very often when connected to the mobile internet.
As I mentioned earlier in the review the phone has a QWERY style keyboard which is easier than just using the numbers but I find the buttons quite small so I have to text slower as a result to prevent me constantly pressing the wrong buttons.
The USB port on the phone is a special design and is a different size to the standard Micro USB cable so means you are stuck with the cable supplied with the phone which is pathetically short (probably around the length of a human finger), I also find that if you lose the cable it means you can no longer connect your phone to a computer to transfer files to and from the device.
This phone was a very good replacement for the previous phone I had been using and was a welcome change from touch screen to normal buttons, this phone has been very good to me apart from the rare freeze or crash, overall I give a rating of 4/5 for this phone, I would have given 5/5 if it had bigger buttons on the keyboard.
Summary: A blackberry style Nokia phone
