Advantages: Everything you need in a multimedia fun + phone
Disadvantages: Pricey, quite large
So the new Nokia power house. After N95 8GB, N96 has been the most anticitipated phone for many months. Finally it's on the market, and in my hands.
The design is great, N96 is thinner, rounder and sturdier, with better sliding mechanism (so I think anyway). The screen is the same as that of N95 8GB, and the gray side plastic looks alittle cheap considering this is the new flagship but it was nothing major. The camera and featuers are identical too. The phone is quicker but there were some problems with processing several programs at once. The loading time is long unfortunately.
The 16GB is the wonder, it will store...many things. There is not much I can really say, except that it's just an improvement of N95 8GB, which I had, and N96 is not much different to it, than the design.
If I could summarise, for those who didn't have N95 8GB or N95, the display is 2.8 and it is fine, and one of the best you can get. The interface is S60 Symbian, feature pack 2, and it has everything you need and more in a phone. Wifi, 3G, 2ndary camera, professional quality 5MP camera, radio, TV out, good music player, video player, bluetooth, IR, and accelorometer, GPS with Nokia Maps pre-installed, many possible softwares and applications available.
All in all, this is the best equipped handset there is, but not the cheapest. Actually it is one of the most expensive handsets out there - there are alternative cheaper mobiles such as the Samsung INNOV8 -, Touch Pro, Blackberry Bold, but not that matches the greatness.
Summary: If you have the money, you can flash it round

- 23/10/08 Surprised you found it quicker. All the reviews I've read say it's slower due to having a slower processor than the N95 in order to improve the battery life. |
