Advantages: huge storage space, good gps
Disadvantages: not really much better than a silver n95
upgraded from an n95 (silver) at the start of january, and expected to be blown away but to be honest unless you really need the extra storage i don't think this phone is worth it.
It is better than the n95 i had in some respects but can get a little irritateing, the menus are still slow, and when writing texts, on predictive at least, unsure about if you're using normal, you need to hesitate (very slightly, but enough to notice) between letters, which is something i never needed to do on the n95. It strikes me as odd because some software on the phone, maps for example, works alot faster. On that point the gps actually works on the n96, on my n95 it found me once, in 18 months.
Reliability is a bit of a worry, i've already needed to get my phone swapped, some of the buttons stopped working, but that was rectified very quickly, (although that's vodafone, not nokia)
so this phone is better than the n95, not by as much as i was hoping but still better. I just wish one phone company would make a phone that's quicker, but leave the menu system alone so the damn thing didn't hesitate.. Here's hoping.
Summary: if the money's burning a hole go for it, but don't save too hard.
