Looks great but below par performance (Nokia N96)

Advantages: wide variety of extra features

Disadvantages: erratic performance and slow.

I never actually wanted the N96, but when the time came to upgrade my phone, my network was out of stock of the N95 8GB and as the need for a new handset was dire I compromised and order the N96. I was impressed when I got it initially with all the exciting functions like mobile tv and sat nav (neither of which I ever use) and the ability to connect to an available wireless network (which I use all the time). However, the more I used my phone, the more I found little glitches in the software. The phone runs very slowly, even with the software updates and the continual emptying of my inbox and clearing of the internal memory. In addition, while on holiday I was using my phone as a music player and it developed the tendency to switch itself off.
Although this phone does have its issues, when it does perform its functions properly, the quality with which it does them is very high. Having been a Nokia girl through and through, it saddens me to think that this phone has begun to question my faith in Nokia and I have recently begun to look at phones of other brands for my next upgrade. Whether the fact that when working properly this phone is brilliant is enough to outweigh the annoying technical difficulties will have to be seen when my contract is up for renewal!

Summary: if you want a phone that just makes calls but looks good, this is the phone for you
