The Nokia N97
Member Name: RhysMakepeace
Advantages: Great Applications
Disadvantages: Slow and Unreliable
I have had this phone since July 2009 and quite frankly this phone is one of the worst gadgets i have ever had.
The Phone constantly freezes. I usually use my phone for an alarm to get me up for work. On numouros occasions i have woken up (without the alarm waking me) and the phone is frozen. I then have to remove the battery on several occasions to get the phone back to working order.
I have also had to take out several insurance claims due to the text messaging. The phone has no problems in sending texts but when it came to receiving text messages i had to either turn my mobile off then on again and wait up to five minute or send a text message just to receive a text message.
I was told by a member of staff in the phone shop from which i purchased the phone from, the reason the phone is so expensive is because the screen costs £300. The screen split the first time i dropped the phone accidently. Since July i have had to take out 4 Insurance claims(£60 each) in which i received a new device. 3 of them claims were due to the text messaging fault and the 4th was the screen, which i do take responsibility for, But for a £300 screen you would expect the screen to be stronger.
The Signal seems to be very restricted, most of my friends are on the same network as me(orange) and they seem to have great signal where as i have none what so ever.
At first i was a very proud person to own the new Nokia N97, It was fast and seemed to be worth the money. After only 3 weeks i had to take out my first insurance claim(due to messaging issues). Im now imbarised to admit that i had the N97. It becomes very slow after a couple of weeks and its very difficult to modify the phone to your standard such as setting your own ring tone and transffering images, music or other files to or from the memory card.
The phone does have some great applications and there are free downloads from the Ovi Store which you can access straight throught the phone. It does resemble a laptop in a lot of ways sauch as the keyboard and the internet access is great. If your moblie is in great working order (speed and functioning) you will have great fun with this phone.
I do know around 10 people who own the N97 and all of them have agreed on all the disadvantages of the phone and are really disappointed with the services that have been provided.
The phone is a very bulky and chunky but that is being very picky.
Last of all i would like to say that if i wasnt tied in on a contract with this phone i would definatley not own this phone. I do prefer the Nokia 3310 to the Nokia N97.
Thank you for reading.
