Samsung Galaxy Mini
Advantages: Cheap, good for smart phone beginners, easy to use and navigate
Disadvantages: Small touchscreen makes qwerty keyboard difficult to use. Some limitations on apps available.
As a smart phone first-timer, who admittedly was a little scared of the dramatic progression in mobile phone technology, I plunged in and purchased the Samsung Galaxy Mini. The little phone appeared to suit my desire for an advance in technology, while remaining fairly cheap and seemingly easy to use. I am on a sim-free contract (£8 a month) and therefore the purchase price of £70 from Three Mobile appealed to me.
I was able to try out the features of the phone in store and the sales assistant showed me through the basics of smart phone usage. I particularly liked the touch screen and although this is a lot smaller than other phones it still remains clear, bright and easy to navigate. My only quibble with the small screen is that when texting on the qwerty keyboard I do tend to press the wrong key (and my fingers are actually quite small!).
The initial applications that come on the phone are really useful - news, weather, google search, popular social networks, youtube etc. There is a social hub where you can combine your various acocunts, if social networking is your thing. The only problem that I have found with applications is that on the market (play store) there are limited applications to download. Some of my friends have been playing popular applications like 'words with friends' and 'draw something', however I couldn't access these.
Overall the phone is good value for money, as long as you aren't a complete techie. The battery lasts well and charges quickly, the camera takes quality photos, and it has never frozen on me once. I know other people who have more expensive models of the galaxy range and they don't really use many more features than I have - they mainly just go for the larger screen.
Summary: Great phone for those looking for a useful, stylish, cheap and easy to use option.
