Samsung i9100 Galaxy S II
Advantages: 8mp Camera. AMOLED Screen. FULL HD Recording. Large Touch Screen
Disadvantages: Few Software bugs. Very short battery life.
I have owned this phone for over a year now. I purchased it just after it was released and got it on contract. WOW, what a piece of kit.
Firstly it looks absolutely stunning and it's wafer thin demeanour counteracts that of its rather large size - often called a brick amongst my blackberry and iPhone owning acquaintainces.
The phone boasts the AMO-LED screen, which is very battery zapping! - Mine drinks around 50% of my battery per charge.
The phone comes with Gingerbread out of the box, although there is now Ice Cream Sandwich available if you do a software update (Setting > About Phone > Software Update), but make sure you're on a WiFi connection otherwise it will eat your 3G data.
There is an excellent 8mp camera with many functions, such as Sports Panorama, Fireworks, Panorama, Sunset, Landscape and many more. The phone has an ISO of up to 800 for those dark places and also has Full HD Video Recording 1920x1080p at 30FPS (which doesn't allow you to zoom in when recording in full hd)
The video output onto an HD TV looks spectacular too.
The phone doesn't come with a memory card, but does take a Micro SD card which fits into the spring loaded slot, behind the battery. The battery itself is good, but it doesn't last as long as you would hope. The phone is that powerful that it just cannot cope with everything that is going on, unlike the dual core processor the phone boasts.
You will be lucky to get 6 hours from the battery when using the phone to tweet, poke and game on, but that figure is if you are constantly doing the above things. On a day to day basis, mine lasts from when I wake up (about 8am, after charging over night) until I get in from work and have to charge it again (which is about 7pm).
The Play Store provided by google is fantastic and the array of application the phone can hold is phenominal. Boasting an entry level 16gb storage, the SII will probably not need any expansion of memory in its lifetime.
To conclude, the Samsung Galaxy S II is superb and highly recommended, but be warned, the battery isn't the longest lasting I have seen and there are a few hardware errors I have come across, but no piece of technology is ever perfect.
8/10 is my verdict. I hope this is helpful. Any questions, don't hesitate to ask.
Summary: Perfect for anybody, casual and business alike. A great piece of kit that does everything you can't.
