Samsung i9100 Galaxy S II
Advantages: Screen size, speed, RAM, app store, light sensors, great screen, lightweight, thin, easy to grip.
Disadvantages: Possibly too big for your pocket, the speaker isn't the loudest.
There are three colours you can get the little beast in, Black, Bright Pink and White. Samsung will probably have more swanky names like, Death Black and Flower Pink. But we won't bother with those names.
The first thing that you notice about the phone is how lightweight it is! It weighs in at a minuscule 116g, that's 24g lighter than the iPhone 4S. Once you've recovered from the shock of the weight, and hopefully haven't thrown it through the roof after overcompensating for the weight, you'll notice the texture. Different Samsung dealers sometimes change the back cover, and mine happened to have a more rough texture to it. This gives you a great amount of grip on the phone. The front is completely smooth, flush with the screen and speaker.
Once you have turned it on, you can see the huge 3.5" Super AMOLED Plus display in all it's glory. The screen size is a whole 0.8 of an inch bigger than the iPhone 4S. The colours are bright and vibrant thanks to the extra time spent on the screen.
There is a bump near the bottom which is where the charger and loud-speaker are. Some find this annoying and prefer having a smooth, curved phone. I personally find it helpful when turning the phone sideways, providing extra grip. And it also stops you from covering the speaker of the phone while holding it in portrait mode.
The screen is very responsive and the multi-touch works really well with games, apps and browsing. Android's Play Store, formerly called Android Market, allows you to stock up your phone with hours worth of Books, Games, Apps and other things to make you more productive, or just to waste time! While you're out and about on said Apps, you will notice the screen changes brightness automatically. This is thanks to the light sensors in the top left part of your phone, these make it really easy to see what you're doing wherever you may be. The phone's rear camera is really quite good, although it is only 8MP, it shoots 1080p video and the auto-focus on the phone is brilliant. The flash is also very powerful, and can light up pretty much any scene.
In-call audio on the phone is very good. This is quite hard to judge due to the huge amount of variables affecting call quality, but overall it seems to be great!
Summary: A great phone with a lot of power, sleak design and great OS. Possibly a bit too big.
