Samsung i9100 Galaxy S II
Advantages: Great replacement for lots of individual gadgets, easy to use, always up to date
Disadvantages: Battery life
This is the first mobile phone I have ever owned that I have not regretted buying several weeks later. It is a fantastic replacement for a camera, mp3 player, personal organiser, Sat Nav, torch, calculator, books and even my laptop isn't used as much! The things I think are the best are:
The camera and flash - this phone takes better photos than my normal digital camera, and the fact that using apps allows these photos to be instantly emailed, posted to Facebook, used on Ebay, uploaded to Photobucket, even changed and enhanced all from one device is brilliant.
The memory - I had a 2GB memory card from an old Samsung phone that I have not yet needed. It is advertised as having 8GB of memory built in but actually it is nearer 14GB, and I am nowhere near to using that much.
The internet browser - I have recently downloaded a Google Chrome app on the recommendation of a friend, however I have never had a problem with the built in browser, and since the Icecream update, browsing normal desktop sites is so much easier. The phone can carry out most functions online.
Ease of use: as proof of how easy this phone is to use, a week ago I recommended this phone to a friend of mine who has had a 10 year old phone since forever and so using a smart phone was a bit daunting. They took the plunge and bought the S2 and 6 days later they were using it like a pro!
Apps - I love having my email portable as it allows me to keep in touch with my business while out of the office, I love being able to buy things on Ebay while travelling, I love having hundreds of games at my finger tips when I'm sat on a four hour train journey, I can get up to date currency conversions, I can write my blog posts while on the go, do my online banking, Tweet, book train tickets, scan a barcode in a shop and read reviews for that product, buy and read a book with Kindle, the list goes on and on. The only app I have ever found problematic is Facebook. For some reason this never works and crashes the phone constantly, as does using their mobile site too.
Maps - it is so handy when you are miles away in a strange town and you want a decent meal, so you go into your map and search for restaurants. Then you can read through reviews and pick where you want to go. Then there's the sat nav function, which has come in handy many times!
Being able to update this phone means it is always excellent, and the only bad thing I can say is the battery life isn't great, but I understand that this is something that has been sorted in the S3. I'm not due an upgrade for another nine months though, so for now I'm very happy with the S2.
Summary: I love this phone!
