Y is good for WHY? Why this phone?
I definitely love it. Its affordable with no fussy. If you are new to touch screen phone and android like me, it's good for first time user.
At a glance, it is affordable with modest specifications but a bit uninspired design. At the first time I see it, it is designed for the budget-conscious and first time users in mind as an introduction from samsung to the global customers.
The Samsung Galaxy Y comes with Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) allowing users to enjoy a variety of home-screen widgets as well as a Flash-enabled browser. Samsung's TouchWiz interface is plastered on top of the operating system give the ability to tweak menus and widgets to your heart's content. Included is also Samsung's proprietary software which can quickly access games, social-networking applications and music services.
Its 2-megapixel camera is really minimum these days. At best, it is best for snapping photos and recording short clips suitable to upload to social networking sites like Facebook.
Basic connectivity features such as WiFi (802.11 b/g/n) and Bluetooth 3.0 are present. There is Samsung Kies, which can be easy use to browse phone contents on laptop or computer.
As far as budget smartphones, Samsung is certainly heading down the right direction with the Galaxy Y, though execution could have been improved. There is no reason to rag on it, since it certainly is one of the more affordable offerings out there, with that kind of specifications to boot.
Summary: A budget smartphone which affordable and interactive
