Samsung Wave II
Advantages: Newest BADA Version 1.2, Anti-scratch body and screen, 5 MP Cam, and HD Video Recording
Disadvantages: Many similarities to Android and applications are not as much as Android and iOS.
I got a gift from my Asian friend a Samsung mobile phone last month. This phone brings touchscreen candybar design, like a smartphone with mostly premium OS. With dimensions of 123.9 x 59.8 x 11.8 mm, it appears elongated. At the bottom of the screen, I found three buttons, each Call, Menu and End buttons. On the right there is screen lock button and the camera shutter. Being on the left side there are volume control buttons.Gate micro USB, audio 3.5 mm and external speakers can be found at the top of the phone.
When paired with its predecessor, the Samsung S8500 Wave, both smartphone looks almost identical. The distinguishes of those two are only the size of Wave II is slightly larger and the design of the three buttons below the screen.
I love the candybar design touchscreen and the body dominated by scratch-resistant metal material that looks masculine but still elegant. This material choices may cause this phone has a stable weight in hand, 135 grams.
With larger dimensions, of course Samsung Wave II also brought a wider screen. This is the first phone screen brings latest technology to Samsung, Super Clear LCD. Advantages of this screen is used DNIe (digital natural image engine) is usually embedded in high-end Samsung television. The screen displays images with amazing contrast and awesome color saturation level.
If you ever use the Samsung Android smartphone, you'll have no trouble operating the Wave II. Because, there are many similarities between the Bada and Android especially those embedded in mobile phones are made by Korean vendors. The key similarity lies in the TouchWiz UI is pinned on both.
Accessing the main menu by pressing the menu button, you can access the various applications installed in the phone. The gridnya looks alike Samsung's Android which also mimics the iPhone's main menu. To change the position of the icon, press the virtual button labeled Edit which is located to replace the widget. Although relatively new, OS Bada was able to do multitasking, which means you can run multiple applications simultaneously. In addition, for easy management of running applications, Bada is also equipped with features such a task manager which can be accessed by pressing the menu button for a few seconds.
Wave II default browser fairly comfortable to to use to access the virtual world. Moreover, this browser already supports pinch-zoom, flash, multiple windows and quick translate. To use the quick translate, press and hold down on certain words in the text, it will appear translate option, when you select it, you will directed to Google translate and the results of translation of the word you choose is displayed immediately. Moreover, as Android Froyo, Bada has been equipped with Mobile AP features. Thus you can make the Wave II, a kind of portable wi-fi hotspots. This feature can be activated by accessing:
Settings -- Connectivity -- Mobile AP.
What I like the most is the 5-megapixels resolution camera on it seems more than adequate to meet my needs in capturing the image. Especially, the six shooting options available including singles, beauty, smile shot, continuous, panoramic and vintage. In addition there are 14 scene mode options so we can adjust the lighting conditions for maximum result. The camera also supports touch focus, so that we can determine area of focus with ease. Video recorder is considered special too. Why? Because this phone has a capability to recording moving images in high definition format of 480x720 pixels (HD 720p).
Summary: All its features embedded in this phone is quite reliable. The "Androidism" could cause distortions
