The Sony Ericsson Xperia Play is arguably the company's most eagerly anticipated mobile handset. Combining the technology of the Xperia line of smartphones with that of Sony's Playstaion range, the Xperia Play is the perfect blend of mobile and console, a PSP phone if you will.

Of course, like any handset, this on has its fair share of pros and cons.

Obviously, this is a phone with a serious concentration on games and this is where the real strength of the phone lies. Able to play games from the android market place on a slide out d pad is a dream come true for gamers but that is not where the functionality ends. Perhaps the most exciting feature is the ability of the phone to play full Playstation One games using the slide out controls. The phone comes pre loaded with the original PS0ne Crash Bandicoot game to whet the appetite of owners with plenty of other classics available for download.

The phone side of the mobile is much like Sony Ericsson's other Xperia products and provides all the features a smart phone does in the 21st century.

On the downside, the internal memory of the phone is pretty small, especially considering that this is a handset optimized for storage heavy games. An 8GB memory card is included as standard but having that as internal memory like the iphone would be useful.

All in all, a revolutionary phone on the face of it with innovative gaming controls but rather ordinary once that is removed.
