Advantages: Compact and great for big texters
Disadvantages: Too many flaws in the design, and placement of icons on the touch screen
I have had a few Sony Ericsson phones over the years and found that they are reliable and I get quite attached to them so manage to keep them for at least 3 years before I feel I want to change. So after having used my Sony Ericsson W880i to the maximum until there was no life left in it I opted to see what else was out there. I have always been use to using quite small compact phones that don't look like I am holding a brick against my head and talking in to it! So I had quite a lot of trouble when searching for something that wasn't too advanced with too many fancy features and wasn't too big! This was proving to be exceptionally difficult with everyone raving about the the iPhone and Blackberry's. For some reason I don't find either aesthetically pleasing and as a big texter I wasn't keen on the idea of too much touch screen which is all that's available. I guess I am little fashioned and like a good phone that's just great for making calls, texting and has the odd few extras to keep things a little interesting. So going back to what I was comfortable with I looked at the range of new phones available from Sony Ericsson...the Experia X10 Mini Pro caught my attention instantly because of its nifty little QWERTY keyboard that slides out and back in to form a tiny little pocket sized wonder! As it was quite new there weren't many reviews and because I was buying it Pay As You Go I went to a mobile phone shop and researched the features and the way it worked in depth...still I was smitten. Although it has a touch screen it has a good level of sensitivity when selecting icons in the menu so I felt the ease of use was to my capabilities. You get all your basics, calender, alarm clock, android market etc but I think what has drawn me most to this phone is the fact that's its small compact and has a keyboard which is great for me when texting and...thats pretty much it! This phone no longer entertains me...in all honesty this phone maybe good looking but it is by far the most frustrating phone I have ever owned! So much for a good level of touch sensitivity...when making calls my ear seems to hit the hold or mute button in the top left and right corners of the screen that automatically come up when you have made/received a call (I do not have very big ears). If its not that then the dial pad will come up unknowingly and all you and the person on the the other end of phone can hear is buttons being dialed...by my ear!!! Or even worse if I use the back button to completely avoid of all these potential disasters, the music players starts blaring music whilst Im on the phone to someone for everyone in close proximity to hear! I cant save picture messages that have been sent to me via MMS and the Bluetooth only connects to devices like hands-free kits but not to other phones so you can share musics/videos/pictures. The battery life is abysmal unlike my W880i which i charged every 2-3 days. I have to charge this at leas 2-3 times a day!I have had this now for nearly 2 yeas but that is simply because I can't find anything I can fall in love with! All in all its great if all you do is text, if you like to make calls do not buy this phone!
Summary: Not the most recommendable phone on the market, looks great but lacks in performance
