The Fabulous Bakin' Boys Milk Choc Chip Muffins
by zombieflesh
I love the Fabulous Bakin' Boys, especially their cupcakes and I spotted this 4-pack of muffins in Poundland. Unsurprisingly they cost £1, which I think is a good price as they're a good brand and make really yummy baked goodies.
The muffins come in a box and each one is individually wrapped in plastic. The packaging refers to ... them as "lunchbox muffins" and suggests that this would be a good item to include as part of a packed lunch. The packaging makes them convenient to just quickly grab one and stuff it into your lunchbox or bag to take out and about with you.
The Fabulous Bakin' Boys say these are "A vanilla flavoured muffin with milk chocolate chips - Individually wrapped for maximum lunchboxability."
The muffins are of a good size and look perfectly appetising, the cake is light and soft, and there are plenty of chocolate chips visible with a generous sprinkling throughout. They smell lovely and sweet and I was eager to get munching! The vanilla base is gorgeous, very tasty and quite flavoursome for a plain choc-chip muffin. The chocolate chips are milky and sweet and they complete the yummy goodness of the muffin.
I'm not entirely convinced that the packaging is the best they could have gone for, the muffins seemed a little dry and did not taste as fresh as I would have liked. But in the end time is money and convenience wins, and these certainly are handy to have in the kitchen cupboard.
These are quite high in calories and are obviously not the healthiest snack to eat, but they are a tasty treat and good as long as you limit yourself. One muffin is quite satisfying by itself and I found that I was not craving more afterwards, probably because the high sugar level satisfied my sweet tooth!

The fabulous bakin boys double chocolate muffins
by tiaw
I have just consumed one of these double chocolate muffin badboys, literally one minute ago, and already I know this is one of the reviews I will struggle to write the most. There just isn't a lot to say, because, like Bakin Boys' cupcakes, there is a very distinct feel of blandness and tastlessness pervading the product.
I ... like my chocolate muffins big and sprinkled with drops of chocolate resting on top and scattered throughout. I also like the inside of a chocolate muffin to be softer and almost 'runny'. I realise these are packaged and so they can't be as fresh and delicious as those from a bakery, but there is just a resounding lack of any of the above. They aren't terribly big (but then, having 4 squeezed into a box, I suppose I should have expected that), and they are completely dry with very few additional chocolate pieces.
For those who enjoy chocolate, they will be a welcome option to snacktime - but their taste is nothing beyond alright. The texture is exactly what one would expect from a muffin, but the actual flavour is almost non-existent. While my belly is a bit more full, my tongue remains unstimulated. Bakin boys chocolate is just a bit characterless, and sterile.
I take into account the fact that these are packaged, but I still am of the opinion that there must be stronger such products out there. Read the complete review |

The Fabulous Bakin' Boys White Chocolate Cupcakes
by CheekyCharlie08
I brought a box of these limited edition White Chocolate Cup Cakes when they was on special offer in Tesco on Xmas Eve, I think it was 2 boxes for £2.00 and because I'd got to buy cakes anyway I got a box of these and a box of the chocolate ones.
Their proper name is Winter White Cup Cakes and they are a vanilla sponge cake ... with white chocolate icing. The icing looks mega thick but it's not really and it's not very Fabulous to put extra icing down the sides of the cake to make it look like thick chocolate. They lose one star for that bit of snide!
They taste nice, I'm not into white chocolate but this is very tasty. It's weird but because the white chocolate is not very good quality on the cup cakes I like it better than I would if it was brill creamy proper white chocolate. With these cup cakes there's quite a strong icing flavour that mixes with the chocolate and that makes it lovely and sweet with a delish sugary taste.
The sponge is yummy, it's got a lovely light texture and melts in your mouth as you eat it. The vanilla flavour in the sponge goes wicked with the white chocolate icing and the whole cake has got a mega sweet taste. I love how if you eat the icing seperate to the sponge and then eat a bit of them together they taste completely different, it's like a different cake!!!
The white chocolate icing is lovely and soft, like I said it's a lot thinner than it looks but that's a good thing because if it was thicker the cake would deffo be too sickly. If you've had Fabulous Baking Boys Cup Cakes before you'll know they're all quite sweet, these are deffo the sweetest variety I've tried but they're delish at the same time.
I think these will be around for a bit yet even though they're limited edition, sometimes the Baking Boys bring limited edition cakes out again and again anyway so you're bound to see them another time..... even if it's Xmas 2010!!! Read the complete review |
