There should be a health warning attached to this bread - it's highly addictive! Excellent flavour, perfect consistency, not to sweet...absolutely amazing!!!!

      A tasty chocolate brioche

I spotted this near the bread when I was buying bread in Aldi and thought it looked good so I bought it. It cost £1.69 and there is also a vanilla version available which I haven't tried. I have tried brioches that are a bit too bready and dry and some that are lovely so I wasn't completely sure what to expect with this one.

The label calls this a chocolate marble brioche and it comes in a metal tray and then covered in a plastic bag. When I opened it and had a look at it, I was quite surprised at how big it actually looks and how much chocolate is it in! There are lots of chocolatey bits in a marble effect in this brioche. Instead of being a plain brioche with some chocolate chips or some chocolate drizzled on top, the chocolate goes all the way through the brioche in a marble pattern which is nice. This makes the whole thing very chocolatey. The chocolate itself is quite dark but not bitter. I am not really a fan of dark chocolate but the chocolate in this is dark enough to be rich and chocolatey without being too dark and bitter.

The brioche is moist, soft and buttery. It's really tasty and it isn't dry at all, like with some brioches. It kind of has a freshly baked taste to it. I like to eat it with a cup of coffee or hot chocolate but it's also tasty on its own, it's moist enough not to need to be eaten with a drink.

Like I said, this is quite a big brioche, it lasts for a fair few portions. I like the packaging because it is easy to close the plastic bag and keep it in the metal tray to keep it fresh. I also like that it's all in one instead of in separate portions because firstly, you can see the nice marble effect and secondly you can control the portions if you want to slice off a smaller or larger portion.

I would definitely recommend this, it's really nice and it's good value for money, especially when you compare the price to something similar and of a similar size from other shops. It seems a bit expensive compared to the other things on the shelf in the cake and bread section of Aldi but I really think it is worth it.

I visited Aldi's today to get my brioche...just about the only food my mom will now eat at 95...and was told you won't be carrying it any longer. No, no, no...this can't be true. My heart is broken and life will never be the same!BRING BACK BRIOCHE!! Let's start a campaign.Five stars only for the memory of it! Zero stars until I see it on the shelf again.

        Specially Selected Chocolate Chip Brioche

We have started doing a bit of shopping at Aldi cos of the cheap fruit and one of the things I have discovered I like is the Chocolate Chip Brioche.

It is even better than the marks and spencers one we used to buy cos this one is much moister and is dense so that it fills me up quicker.

There are loads of chocolate chips in it and their more like chunks cos they are much bigger than normal chocolate chips that you usually get in stuff like this.

The cake is easy to rip apart when you can't be arsed finding a knife and has a strong buttery flavour that makes it delicous on its own or with custard which is how I like to eat mine. The top is nice and sticky and my mum always says it reminds her of the sticky buns she used to buy when she was a kid. Its chewier than most brioche cakes i've had but also it melts in your mouth cos it's so buttery and soft.

Its a very moorish cake and before now Ive eaten a full one i n the space of just a few hours. Its quite sweet though cos of the chocolate so I wouldn't recommend doing this cos it made me feel a bit sick afterwards.

Specially Selected is Aldi's version of the expensive supermarket brand stuff like Sainsburys Taste The Difference. Because its Aldi though its much cheaper and I think this cake is only about £1 and that is brill value cos I know the marks and spencers one is over £3 and is smaller than this one as well.

After a recommendation from my mom i tried this brioche , i am very impressed , it is very tasty, moist and fluffy and has loads of chocolate chips in it . you get about 10 portions that just tear off. It is a very reasonable price they also do a vanilla version that is almost as good.great with a mid morning cup of coffee , i actually now go out of my way to buy this.
