Asda Angel Cake
Advantages: Tasty, cut how much you want, cheap.
Disadvantages: There isn't enough.
Angel Cake is something I have eaten for a long time. I was always given it on a Saturday lunch time as a child and have since passed this tradition on to my children.
I really like Angel Cake and find it amusing that it isn't as popular as I would expect.
What is Angel Cake?
Angel Cake is a cake made up of 3 layers with white vanilla icing cream between each layer, totalling two layers of cream.
The cake is 3 different colours, pink, white and yellow it also comes in a strip like a Battenberg. The top layer, is the thickest, the other two layers are the same dimensions.
The strip aspect is great, I like to think of it like those plasters that come in strips and you cut how much you want. That is exactly what Angel Cake is like, it comes in 2 length sizes in Asda and you cut as much as you want.
On the top and bottom of Angel Cake is a layer of brown, I don't want to make this sound horrible because it isn't but it is like a crust or a base, all it is, is the edge.
It doesn't affect the taste or add anything to it if I'm honest. I don't really understand why it is there.
What does it taste like?
Angel Cake tastes like many cake products, but I will say the cake is surprisingly light and moist but not heavy. You don't usually get moist cakes that have a light texture and taste. Angel Cake does have this and is very nice and refreshing.
Compared to some other cake type products, ie, cake bars, this is far lighter and tastier in my opinion. It is very soft and very fresh, I think even after a few days in the bread bin it tastes better than some other competitors products.
How much does it cost?
In Asda you can buy Angel Cake for £1.00 for a small strip. It is made and produced by Asda and is definitely one thing they have got right.

My Final Thought.
I really enjoy Angel Cake, I think it is reasonably priced and is a great snack, lunch box filler or treat. If you have never tried it, go and get some.
Summary: A great snack or treat for all the family.
