      A nice treat

On a recent trip to Asda I wanted something as a light snack to enjoy whilst in work or for when reading my book and as I scanned the shelves for something my eye caught these bags of goodies - they were bags of Asda own branded chocolate and orange truffle cakes - as some of you will know from previous reviews of mine I do love chocolate and orange so it would have been rude to not try them! When I noticed they were on offer I decided to buy my husband the caramel ones so that he wouldn't be left out! What are they? They are a round, flat chocolate piece that is made up of truffle and orange crispy pieces and then covered in a milk chocolate. They are sold in a small bag which contains 6 pieces. Appearance: They look just really like a lump of chocolate that has been flattened into a circular shape. They are actually quite a decent size as they are not too small at all but, not too big either that they would hardly fit any in the bag! Smell and taste: When I opened the bag I couldn't really smell much wafting out and it wasn't until I actually sniffed a piece up close I could smell the chocolate. Until you break the coating of milk chocolate over the truffle I couldn't smell the orange either but, once I did bite into it I could then immediately smell the gorgeous aroma of the orange! Upon biting into the piece I could really taste the truffle and the orange was perfect - not too strong and not too mild that it didn't taste like anything was there! The truffle was lovely and soft and the orange bits had a slight crunch to them - they were not huge pieces which made it more enjoyable to eat as you were not constantly crunching on the orange bits but, the flavour was still there. Price: I paid £1.50 for two bags which were on offer - normally they would be £1 per bag. I thought it was reasonable enough to pay 75p per bag although I am not sure if the bag is really worth a £1 as you don't get enough in them to justify paying that much per bag! Overall opinion: I thought these were gorgeous and so yummy!! I had to stop myself from eating all of them in one go as I so could have easily done that. The taste of the orange is just perfect mixed with the truffle and I do love most orange flavoured chocolate but, these were just so nice and I do think it was because it was the combination of the truffle and orange that made it so appealing for me! I would certainly be looking to buy these again although as I say I think I would only buy when on offer and not because I personally didn't like them enough, because I do but, because the principal of how many you get in a bag to justify paying a £1 for them. If you wanted to share you would not get many each which is why it is better to buy when on offer as then at least you can get a bag each!
