Advantages: taste, value for money

Disadvantages: none for me

Yesterday I wrote a review on 'Asda's Bacon and Sausage Wraps' that have appeared instore in their party food range and mentioned that we had bought other foods from this range. We have just taken a tray of Cumberland Sausage Rolls out of the oven and our home smells like Greggs at the moment so I thought I'd take this opportunity to review these today.

Packaged in the bag pictured above you get 20 Cumberland Sausage Rolls in the pack, in their frozen state they are nothing to write home about - about 2 inches square in size the pastry and sausage meat look just like you imagine they would do - a mini sausage roll.

Cooking instructions advise that you place on a baking tray and cook for about 15 minutes turning them after halfway through. As they start to heat up you can smell the pastry and sausage start to cook and start to fill your kitchen with a lovely aroma.

Making sure not to burn them, once cooked for the suggested time the sausage rolls come out of the oven a lovely golden brown in colour. Biting into one (after allowing to cool a little) the puff pastry is nice and crumbly and is light and tasty, as these are Cumberland sausages the meat is pleasantly seasoned and to me is slightly peppery. Chewing them allows the flavour to really come through and they do taste absolutely delicious.

They do seem to slightly expand when cooked so you can easily get a couple of bites from a single sausage roll, we had ours with a simple sandwich for tea as didn't really fancy anything too much tonight and they accompanied this really nicely.

Nutritional Information reveals that a 2 sausage roll serving provides:

159 kcals
3.7g protein
10.9g carbs
0.6 sugars
11.2g fat
5.6g saturates
0.8g fibre

So are not at all bad if you want a savoury treat. Due to their size they make an ideal buffet food for the upcoming festivities and at £1.00 for a bag of 20 you can't really go wrong.

These are a favourite in our household, being easy to prepare and very tasty. We actually prefer these to the larger packaged sausage rolls that are already cooked as we find by heating up those ones up they pastry seems to dry out a little bit.

Being a branded product they are only available instore and online at Asda, they are located in the freezer section, and are normally with the rest of the party food range.

5/5 from me, tasty, quick and no hassle - Perfect!
