      Yumminess is these!

Any time of the year I love year I love mince pies. I buy them as often as I can and of course coming up to Christmas we are seeing more and more offerings hit the shelves which pleases me and my total addiction greatly lol. I hadn't seen these ones in Asda before I made this purchase and at the time they had 25% of the usual price too (as did all the Asda Extra Special range). The Packaging: The box is purple in colour with a see-through, plastic 'window' to it to so you can see some of the mince pies through it and on the front there is a photograph of a mince pie on there topped with cream and we are told that they are Asda, Extra Special All-Butter '6' Mince Pies, 'Crumbly, buttery pastry generously filled with juicy sweet vine fruits, laced with brandy and port' and that they are suitable for Vegetarians. On the back of the box other information listed includes ingredients and allergy advice being stated, there is a full nutritional chart shown and contact details for Asda are given. There are no heating instructions on the box and no weight given which I thought was a little odd but it's a nice enough quality looking box with 6 mince pies sat in a plastic tray and each in their own foil cases. The Mince Pies: The mince pies are a pale cream in colour, round and look rather deep with a cut out and stuck down pastry leaf on each for decoration. Yes they look nice! The pastry is delicious. Thick, melt in the mouth and very buttery it doesn't crumble as much as I thought it would which is actually a good thing in my book! Inside the pastry cases of the mince pies are packed with a moist, dark brown mixture that is plentiful, thick and sweet...though not sickly at all. That filling is made up of apple pulp, sultanas, currants, cherries and has a little orange and lemon peel in it to give it a slight zest. The currants and sultanas are whole and plump and therefore juicy and the whole thing has a slight alcohol taste of brandy and port to it giving it a slight bitter undertone. These are absolutely yummy....and I should know I ate 6 in a couple of hours...I simply couldn't leave the alone (sorry hips again!). These are simply superb quality and they are what they say they are, mince pies with a buttery pastry! They look nice, I did warm a couple up in the microwave for a minute and they didn't go soggy and were perfect with cream as well as being eaten naked lol. Great pastry, great filling and the perfect price at £1.65 a box so well done Asda I can't wait to eat more lol!
