My mum is mad for almonds so when me and my sister were making some cakes the other day I used some of these Flaked Almonds from Asda to push into the tops of them. Then I had a brain wave and mixed a load through the cake mixture and cooked them as normal. They were delish and everybody who had one said how nice and unusual they tasted.

These flaked almonds cost £1.00 for a 150g bag and are brill quality. The almonds all taste majorly fresh and are cut nice and thin, they don't all look EXACTLY the same though because that would make them look too perfect and I like stuff like this to have some differences.

The almonds have got a yummy buttery texture and even though they were for the cakes I ended up eating shedloads of them before I'd even started mixing the cake mixture up! lol

The flavour is hard to describe but they just taste like nice fresh almonds, they're obviously nutty and have got a lovely sweet and savoury mixed up flavour.

You can eat these on thier own but that's a bit boring after a few, so the main reason you'll buy these is probably for cooking with. I know my mum uses these to put in Kormas and other mild curries because it helps take the spice out and also gives the curry a nice texture because you've got the soft meat or chicken and then the flakes almonds. You can use them in cakes and biscuits and I remember a few months ago my mum made grown up rice crispie cakes by mixing these flakes almonds with the chocolate and rice crispies before putting them in the fridge to set.

There aren't any weird almonds in this bag, none of them are brown looking and they all look fresh and perfect.
