Advantages: Good price

Disadvantages: Not a lot of jam

I bought some Asda doughnuts as a Saturday afternoon treat but I was some what disappointed.

Asda do a great selection of value items and although the doughnuts were good value, I didn't feel the quality was great. There is however a nice selection of doughnuts at the bakery. There were jam doughnuts, apple doughnuts and custard doughnuts.

The doughnuts were a little heavy and not light and fluffy as I prefer them. They weren't particularly sugary and the jam filling was lacking.

However the value of these doughnuts were quite good. For 5 jam doughnuts they only cost 50p which isn't bad in my opinion. You generally pay for what you get and in this case, at 10p per doughnut, they weren't bad.

I found that these doughnuts could be eaten in about 6 bites and only one of those bites contained jam. The surface sugar was crusted on the doughnuts but it did not evenly cover the surface.

The doughnuts are packaged in a paper bag with a clear plastic window on the front. There is a sticker with a barcode, the price and type of doughnut to seal the bag in place. As with almost all doughnuts they should really be eaten on the day of purchase for the best quality. I did have a couple left over, which I ate the next day. To be fair, they did keep quite well in the paper bag and 10 seconds in the microwave gave them that nice just baked taste.

All in all, for the cost of 10p per doughnut I would recommend these but if you are after something of more quality then the only place to go would be a bakery but you can expect to pay between 40p and 50p for a bakery doughnut.

Summary: Not bad for the price you pay
