When I was recently in my local Asda, I fancied something sweet as a bit of a treat and decided to opt for this Lemon Maderia cake. At under 70p it was certainly great value of money, but did this turn out to be a wise decision? Well the cake has a nice sweet lemony taste to it and the icing compliments the soft lemon sponge beautifully. A slice works well cold with some ice cream or even warmed slightly with some custard. Rather than being one continous sponge, it is broken into three different layers with each having a slightly different feel. One issue with this cake is that it is a bit too dry.
