Cheap and great value for your money! I found money a problem when i moved out of my family home and into my own flat 4 years ago, I invited some of the family over for a meal and had to make a pudding.
So i went to my local asda got all the ingredients for the meal and began my search for a cheap but cheerful desert, I stumbled across these chocolate mini rolls and got some icecream and custard. Everyone loved it and i buy these regualarly now as a snack and as a pudding. I was amazed at the quality for the price, Yes some other brands may be slightly better tasting but they are also alot more in the cost.
I have a family that will guzzle chocolates and biscuits until my cupboards are empty, so when i can i will endevour to find a bargain.
I do my food shopping at asda and already rate a few of their smart price products especially the basics and thought that these rolls would make great snacks and lunch box fillers.
At 36p of 6 rolls the packaging is basic as you would expect, with the six of them placed in a clear plastic tray in a plastic/cellophane type packaging. The packaging is clear with the green and black logo and writing you will find on all smart price procucts. Thes rolls are found in the bakery aisle among the cakes and crumpets etc...
On the back of the packaging, you will find the nutritional information and recycling details and at the bottom right of the packaging is the best before date.
The rolls themsleves claim to be chocolate and have a synthetic cream centre. They are choclately although cannot really be compared to Cadburys. The 'cream' is very sweet and therefore is great for a sweet snack at a great price. These rolls are a little sticky to the touch but do not deter from the flavour.
Once opened these rolls tend not to stay fresh for very long, but to be fair at around 8-10cm long the packet does not usually go back in the cupboard with any going spare.
I love Cadbury's chocolate mini rolls but I do find them to be pretty expensive for the amount you get in each pack. Even though not aren't quite as tasty, these Asda Smart Price chocolate mini rolls are a great cheaper alternative.
They are very simple little treats made from chocolate flavour sponge with a vanilla flavour swirled filling. They are almost exactly the same as Cadbury's mini rolls just without the hard milk chocolate coating on the outside so the entire thing is very soft, light and fluffy. The sponge has a light sprinkling of sugar on top of it so it's really sweet and chocolaty. The vanilla filling is like a sweet cream and makes the treat quite moist and very tasty.
These are so perfect for having at parties, especially children's parties, where they always go down a treat. My sister has always had these at her birthday parties with friends and they're always the first out of the sweet treats to be gobbled up. They're also just a great little sweet snack to have at home in case you get a chocolate craving but don't like spending too much money on treats.
There are 6 in each pack of these and they cost only a very cheap 33p, which is amazingly good value for these. Being a value product, they obviously aren't going to be as good in quality or taste as Cadbury's version, but for the price, I thoroughly recommend them.
Rummaging through the lists of sweet chocolate cakes on the Asda website I came across this 6 pack of chocolate mini rolls priced at the extremely low price of just 33p. I had to be naughty and pop one in my online trolley. I also order the raspberry ones as well which I will more than likely review when we've opened them.
These small chocolate sponged cakes are about 2 and half inches long. They have a lovely vanilla flavoured sugary cream inside which really kicks off the sweet taste of the roll. The chocolate sponge was also nice and moist and didn't taste dry. I personally found the chocolate sponge not to be as full of flavour as I would have expected but still it's a lovely sweet treat.
They are great to add to your children's lunch boxes, or to have with your cuppa tea.
Each roll contains 83 calories, so I'm now feeling very bad about eating 5 out of 6 of these chocolate rolls.
They are free from artificial colors and flavorings.
They are also packaged in a plastic tray which is recyclable.
Overall these are a lovely sweet treat and at only 33p they are worth a try. If you don't like them I'm sure the kids will gobble them all up.
