      Ok for us penny pinchers!

I do love a bit of cake but when my boyfriend comes round to say I can't get a look in. As a consequence of this I have actually stopped buying treats such as cake when he's around as he was eating it as meal replacements and it was costing me a fortune trying to keep him stocked up! This had led to him groaning mid afternoon and sure I did start to feel a bit mean (He does really treat me well!) so I relented.....slightly. However I'm not indulging him quite so much and keeping to a tight budget as we are going away this Easter to my parents and going out rather alot so when I spotted some Swiss rolls at only 25p each in Asda I decided to 'treat' him to one lol (taking it out of the wrapper first mind you so he couldn't see it was a cheapy product lol). The Packaging: The Swiss roll comes in an oblongish see-through, white and green wrapper and on the front of it we are simply told that it is Asda 'Smart Price' Raspberry Swiss Roll and that it is suitable for Vegetarians. On the back of the packet other information listed includes ingredients, allergy advice, nutritional information and contact details for Asda. The only issue I had with this is that although I found the packet easy to tear open to remove the roll from it, I did find it hard to remove it without damaging some of the sponge. The Swiss Roll Itself: Rather long and not too thick, this is like a layer of golden sponge which is rather dense and moist and not one bit fluffy but tastes ok with a thin layer of smooth, transparent layer of raspberry jam which is as it is smooth apparently seedless and its rolled into a log. All in all this is a nice enough, moist sponge. The jam is sticky and dark red and could do with being a bit more flavoured of raspberries rather than just simply a berry jam of some description and sadly this isn't a nice cylinder shaped fluffy Swiss roll but more a bit of a flat offering however I found this not to sweet and not bad at all for a little treat for the mini cost of 25p!
