I've been buying these for quite a while as I love to have a couple of crumpets for breakfast as a nice change to the usual toast or cereal that I have.

These do look like what you'd expect value crumpets to look like - very thin and flimsy and quite small compared to other brands of crumpets. They're very soft though so they're not at all dry especially after putting butter on them. The butter melts into them really well and, because they're quite thin, they don't need to be completely coated in spread. Strawberry jam is my favourite topping to put on these and it makes them taste lovely and sweet and moist.

Because they're thin though that does mean that they aren't very filling so whenever I have these for breakfast I find myself getting hungry for lunch before I normally do.

Another problem that I have with these is that they often fall down lower in the toaster than food is meant to go and get stuck in there which means that I have to unplug the toaster and tip the entire thing upside down to get them out. This is because they're so thin so these ones might be better being cooked under the grill.

These are only really cheap costing 35p for 6 crumpets which is the reason that I usually buy these Smart Price ones. When other better brands of crumpets are on offer though, such as the Kingsmill love to toast crumpets, I generally tend to go for those instead as they are better quality and quite a bit bigger. But otherwise, these Smart Price crumpets are perfectly adequate as they're soft and tasty.
