Advantages: Soft and fresh, perfect for sandwiches and toast, good value

Disadvantages: None

I'm reviewing the bread shown above but thick sliced not medium.

I've always struggled on what type of bread to buy. My husband refuses to eat wholemeal and getting 2 separate loaves is too much for just the 2 of us; supermarket value brands aren't tasty enough; Best of Both, although tasty, didn't fit in the toaster - it was too tall and the bottom would be toasted but the top part would still be soft bread while the middle ended up burnt. I got so fed up of this that I tried a few different types of bread and the Asda Square Cut White bread ended up coming out as number 1.

This is an Asda brand loaf but it is not Smart Price so the quality is good. It comes in a green and blue plastic packaging, the same size as any other loaf of bread, and it costs 72p.

It's a very soft white bread and as soon as you open the pack you can smell the fresh smell of baked bread. The slices are just the right thickness - the medium sliced loaf of this range is too thin and I don't find it satisfying enough. It tastes perfect and soft when used for sandwiches and when I pop it in the toaster it goes a lovely crispy golden colour and the crust crisps up nicely. I love my crusts and this bread has delicious light crusts. Butter melts into the toast yet leaves you with the yummy buttery taste. Um, I fancy some toast now I'm writing this!

And the best thing is it fits perfectly in my toaster and cooks evenly all over!

Each slice contains 96 calories, and seeing as it isn't wholemeal, it admittedly isn't too healthy for you, but I find that I don't care anymore as it tastes so nice!

The only disadvantages with this bread is that putting it in the fridge causes it to loose a slight bit of its softness and, I'm not sure how long other breads last, but this one doesn't last that long. But that doesn't bother us either as we get through it really quickly.

I love this bread and, even if I end up running out, I refuse now to buy a different make and just have to do without it until the next time I go to Asda!

Summary: My favourite bread!
