Askeys Ice Cream Wafers
Advantages: Cheap and quite tasty.
Disadvantages: Break easily.
Askey's were founded in 1910, bringing ice cream cornets to the UK market. They have now expanded to not only provide cones, but wafers, topping sauces and other sweet dessert treats.
I have bought many Askeys products through the years and most recently I purchased their ice cream wafers.
These wafers come in a pack of 48 and the packaging has changed considerably since the picture above was taken. The new pack is now two shades of blue, with lettering in both white and yellow. There is a picture of ice cream wafers on the front, which have been used as the wings of a plane. It really is very cute and is advertised as a serving suggestion.
The packaging is very thin and cannot be resealed, so the wafers will have to be stored in an airtight container once opened. I have had mine for three weeks now and they are still crisp.
Inside the pack you find 48, pale golden wafers, each with the word 'Askeys' printed on them. They are very thin and measure 3.5 inches by 1.5 inches. I mainly eat mine as an ice cream sandwich, but you do have to watch, as the wafers break quite easily. They also work just as well added to a bowl of ice cream, giving a very basic pudding some extra decoration and added texture.
The wafers, although plain looking, do taste lovely and sweet. They are also very crisp, giving your smooth, soft ice cream some added 'crunch'.

Askeys 48 Ice Cream Wafers are available from Tesco for 28p, which is remarkably good value these days.
They are a very affordable way to liven up your ice cream and stay fresh for a long time, preventing wastage.
I would definitely recommend this product and award it 5 stars.
