Advantages: Melt in the mouth tasty!

Disadvantages: None

I had a real craving for a nice biscuit this week and while browsing Tesco online, I came across Border Milk Chocolate Viennese biscuits. I had never tried them before and they did sound very tempting. For a luxury pack of biscuits I thought they were quite good value at £1, so I popped a pack in my online basket.

Border biscuits are very nicely packed in a rectangular cardboard box, coloured in pale cream. There are close-up pictures of the viennese whirls, large chunks of milk chocolate and sticks of vanilla. As they are made in Scotland, there is a very light trim of tartan on the packaging too. On one end of the box is a small window, through which you get to glimpse the gorgeous whirls.

Inside the pack you find eight chunky biscuits, each with a generous coating of milk chocolate on the bottom. Your teeth sink into them very easily and they have a soft crunch. They are very light in texture and melt in the mouth, leaving a subtle sweet, vanilla aftertaste which is very pleasant. The chocolate is smooth, rich and creamy and the bakers have been generous with it. The combination of flavours and textures is just perfect and I did manage to eat two before I made myself stop!

I bought my pack of eight Border Viennese Whirls in Tesco for £1 only and I notice that Asda has them at the same price. I am not sure if this is a special offer though, as most Border biscuits are more expensive than this.

I wouldn't buy these every week, but would definitely purchase them again when I fancied a special treat.

I do feel they are worthy of 5 stars, as they taste absolutely wonderful.
