Advantages: Taste great
Disadvantages: Biscuits are too small
As a child I used to love Cadburys Snack Shortcake Biscuits. I didn't see them around for a while, but managed to pick some up when I went shopping a couple of weeks ago. I hadn't previously noticed them on the supermarket shelves before, but as soon as I saw them, I had to get some!
For the price of exactly £1.00, you get six smaller pack of Snack biscuits within one pack. Each little pack contains two biscuits, meaning altogether you get twelve biscuits in the pack. Each biscuit is around 1.5" square and is a shortcake biscuit centre, with a smooth milk chocolate coating. These are quite divine if you ask me! With this being made by Cadburys, obviously the milk chocolate coating is Cadburys chocolate. Due to this the exterior is smooth and creamy and of a high standard. It in no way tastes of cheap chocolate, it is Cadburys through and through. The shortcake biscuit centre is lovely too. It's really light and has a slight crunch to it, but is not too harsh. The centre isn't at all buttery in taste so this doesn't make the biscuit taste too sweet or sickly. The biscuit has a melt in the mouth texture to it and with the added chocolate coating, you really do get a lovely tasting biscuit.
Although you only get 12 biscuits in the pack for the price of £1.00, I don't think these are overpriced. Normally to get just that amount of biscuits for your money, I would consider these to be overpriced, but they are of such a good standard that I am happy to pay the full price of £1.00 for these. You can often find them on offer, so I would suggest that if you do think these cost too much then you keep your eye out for a bargain and stock up when they are on offer.
I also like the fact that the biscuits are packed separately in twos, therefore they are great for kids lunchboxes and for car journeys, meaning you do not have to take all 12 biscuits with you when you go out. Just take a pack of two and it will keep the kids satisfied (and quiet!) on a journey.
My main personal gripe with these is that one pack isn't always enough for me! These are quite small biscuits and once I have finished one pack of two, I find I'm not full and quite often am tempted to have another small pack - therefore not good for those of you on a diet!
Nutritional Info (per pack)
Calories - 105
Sugar - 6.4g
Fat - 5.4g
Saturates - 2.9g
Salt - 0.5g
The above statistics don't make bad reading really. Obviously they are pretty high in sugar and fat, but then considering the type of product these are, they were never going to be any different. For those of you who suffer with allergies, these do contain milk, wheat and soya. They may also contain traces of nuts.
Overall I am a real fan of these, and now know why I loved them all those years ago. They are sweet, but not overly so and a really light and tasty snack. They are from the Cadburys brand, so you know you are going to be getting a good quality snack bar. Although you should be encouraged to eat healthier snacks, these are a lovely little treat. They aren't at all sickly and the light biscuit centre works well with the milk chocolate coating to make a great tasting snack. They are quite well priced in my opinion, and with these being a chocolate and biscuit based snack, you have at least a six month use by date on them, so you won't have any waste.
In summary, I recommend if you have never tried these before, then you grab some next time you are at the supermarket. You won't regret it! This is one great tasting 'Snack' from Cadburys.
Summary: You always want more!
