This is another of the treats I received in a hamper for Christmas .
This is a brand I hadn't heard of before receiving my hamper but they seem to be a UK based company that offer a wide range of luxury snacks. In general the brand seems to be expensive but everything I have tried is nice.
This comes in a "larder style resealable pack" . I think it's quite handy for this particular product as although it's only 75g the product could be used for baking.
Would I buy yes,should I buy=no
Smell- These don't have a particularly strong smell. It does smell of strawberries but dried strawberries if that makes any sense.
Appearance .Not the most appealing , they look a bit like those dried up ones you would chuck out ..(they are also a bit sticky)
Taste- These taste quite nice . Sweet but not too sickly.I think I could easily eat a whole packet.
At this point I would have happily still recommended them . The taste is what matters most and these are nice, one of the better dried fruit snacks I have had. Naively I might even have suggested them as a healthy snack... until I read the nutritional information.
For me one of the most important bits is the sugar. Now I do know that fruit=quite high sugar (I try and have more veg than fruit) but the total rather shocked me.
100g=74.6g so the 75g pack about 55.95g . This is high for the average adult where the recommended amount is 90g but as a diabetic I try and not have more than around 30g a day. Calories are 264 for the pack .fat is 1.05 . Let's be honest here a portion of ben and jerrys is less sugar and calorie wise. The nutritional information doesn't state whether it's natural suger or cane . 90g is overall the amount an adult is supposed to have a day regardless of the type of sugar.
There are loads of other products in the range . The selection of dried fruit is quite impressive and they do nice peanuts etc as well. They do sell the products on their website with the same name and they can be bought from Amazon. The only downside is that they have to be bought in bulk unless you buy them in a hamper.. they seem to be in quite a lot of different ones.
Love the taste but don't recommend.
