Fox's Chocolate Viennese
Advantages: buttery, creamy and indulgent
Disadvantages: can be expensive at full price
I am quite partial to the odd biscuit or two especially mid-morning at work where we have a biscuit tin and generally take it in turns to buy packets. One brand of biscuits that most people know is Fox's who have been making biscuits since 1853 (according to the packet). When it came around to it being my turn at work to stock up the biscuit tin one of the packs that I purchased was the Fox's melts Viennese Chocolate biscuits.
I purchased the fox's Viennese biscuits from Tesco where they were on a special offer for just £1.00 per pack. The usual price is £1.69, to be honest I do not think that I would ever pay this as you actually only get 10 biscuits in each pack.
The pack itself comprises of a long plastic wrapper which is mainly beige and purple in colour, it has the fox's logo on the front and pictures of the biscuits with chunks of chocolate at the side of them. On the front it describes the biscuits as being 'luxurious buttery biscuits with real chocolate centre'. On the back of the wrapper you will find all the detailed information about the biscuits including nutritional information, ingredients listing's, company details and storage instructions. When you open the wrapper you will find a clear plastic tray with the biscuits lined up alongside each other with two biscuits in each indent in the tray.
To keep the biscuits fresh once opened it suggests keeping them in a airtight container. Personally I know that when a pack containing just 10 biscuits gets opened at my work it is a rarity that any actually end up being put in the biscuit tin!
Obviously with these biscuits being made with butter and being sandwiched together with chocolate they are not going to be the healthiest option. Each individual biscuit contains the following nutritional information:
Calories - 79
Sugar - 4.5g
Fat - 4.6g
Salt - 0.1g
To be honest I love Viennese biscuits, the creamy, buttery taste is just so comforting and delicious and this is no exception with these fox's ones. The biscuits themselves are about half an inch deep and comprise of two layers of buttery Viennese biscuit sandwiched together with a layer of milk chocolate. The biscuits have a slight rough outside to them which seem to help the biscuits have that crumbly texture when you eat them. The biscuit is fairly sweet but also buttery and smooth and the milk chocolate centre adds a lovely richness to the biscuit.
Overall I would certainly recommend these to any biscuit lover they are a little more rich and indulgent than your average biscuit but are very tasty indeed. The only downfall I would say is the price as personally I think the full price of £1.69 is a little extreme for just 10 biscuits so certainly worth looking for the special offers on these.
Summary: lovely rich biscuits from Fox's
