Spicier than most of these treats

Navrattan is a bombay mix type snack, a local shop sells a whole range of Haldiram's products and many of them look very similar from the outside packaging, the shiny foil keeps an air-tight package of spicy snacky goodness awaiting.

Navrattan is made up of similar ingredients to the majority of these yummy hand foods, it contains various dried peas and beans, peanuts, gram flour strands, cornflakes and small bits of potato.

I think that Navrattan is very flavourful, most people will find it rather spicy and some may be struggling to find something to wash the heat down with afterwards, it is spicier than any of the other Haldiram products I've eaten to date. The mango powder and black pepper used to spice it are very noticeable and probably provide most of the flavour but it's the citric acid and chilli that gives it a kick and helps your ears itch.

This is a delicious, addictive but rather messy snack, it's almost impossible not to drop some of it as you transport it from bowl or bag to hand and your fingers will almost definitely be a reddish yellow colour after munching on some!
