“ Brand: Heinz / type: Biscuit „
Generally my Son Jayden does not really snack, he has his main meals each day and generally isn't really bothered about snacks in-between unless someone else in the house has something and then he decides he will have some. However I do still like to keep things handy that he can snack on should he need to especially when out and about. When doing my weekly shop I spotted Heinz Apple Biscotti Biscuits, after a quick read of the packet I decided these would be ideal for Jayden should he want a snack when we were out of the house, they are easy for him to eat alone and an ideal size. The Biscuits Heinz Apple Biscotti Biscuits are a long thin shape making them easy for little hands to hold and grip, they are basically a light brown colour with rounded ends and a small pattern embossed into each biscuit. The biscuits are described as being made with an Italian recipe, they have a slight crunch and easily melt in your child's mouth, the shape makes them easy to hold allowing your child to feed themselves and improving their hand eye co-ordination. Heinz Apple Biscotti Biscuits are described as being a source of iron, containing no artificial colours or preservatives and also contain 10 key vitamins and minerals. The biscuits do not really have a smell to them, however you can taste the apple flavour in them, this is a mild taste making it idea for young children, it is not over powering at all. Allergy Advise The allergy advise appears on the back of the packaging for Heinz Apple Biscotti Biscuits and states that this product is suitable for vegetarians and that it contains gluten, wheat, barley and milk. This section also states that there is not added soya or egg ingredients. Price and Availability We purchased our 60g pack of Heinz Apple Biscotti Biscuits from our local Tesco, however they are available from most supermarkets. Each packet costs just £1.00 which personally I think is excellent value for money. My Opinion We have been buying Heinz Apple Biscotti Biscuits for a little while now and Jayden loves them, he can easily hold the biscuits without them being too big for his hands, this allows him to feed himself. I personally like the fact that these biscuits melt in your child's mouth reducing the worry of your child chewing their food properly. I have given these biscuits a little taste myself and they are quite nice, you can definitely taste the apple flavour, and whereas personally I would rather a stronger flavour it is the perfect strength for a child, the biscuits also have a creamy taste to them as well. The biscuits are very good value for money, they are a reasonably price and definitely of a good quality and worth the money. Whilst biscuits are not something I would give Jayden all the while as a snack these are ideal for occasions where I need to give Jayden a small snack during the day and we are out an about. I would definitely recommend these to anyone.
My daughter absolutely loves the Original Heinz Biscotti. She loves to sit and suck and gum them and especially enjoys it if I have one with her or Nannie does, and the messier she can make both herself and us the better. As the Original ones were so popular and taste so nice I decided to buy her the Apple ones and she loves fruit. But these were a real disappointment, Tilly-Mae did not like them and neither did Nannie and I. Far from tasting of Apple they actually reminded both my Mum and I of Fig rolls. Neither of us could detect the Apple taste, and whilst not unpleasant they were not as nice as the Original flavour. However the Heinz Biscotti biscuits are the perfect size for little hands to gold and grip and are an ideal fingers food as whilst crunchy they literally do melt in the mouth. The Heinz Biscotti range are widely available from supermarkets, chemists and online and a pack of 12 biscuits costs around £1.10. The Apple Biscotti are suitable from 7 months. The range also includes the Original flavour as well as chocolate and gingerbread. Whilst we would not recommend this flavour I would recommend the range as a whole. We have tried the other flavours and are generally impressed. This review also appears on CIAO under the same username.
Having tried and tested some of the other Heinz Biscotti flavours I was impressed when I saw these available at the last Asda Baby & Toddler event a couple of months back, for just 50p. Each pack contains 12 finger biscuits. I recently saw these available in Tesco prices at around 90p or 4 for £3.00. These finger biscuits come in a really handy sized pack, approx 3 x 4 inch and they fit handily into the side pocket on my handbag. The pack says that they are suitable from age 6 months onwards when crushed with milk and from 9 months onwards as a finger food. I did give Heinz Biscotti to my son sooner than that, both mixed in milk and as finger foods and he tolerated them well. These biscuits smell really appley and I am always keen to join in with Jake when he is having a munch of one as they make my mouth water. They taste mildly of lovely sweet apples. They dissolve well and quickly in little mouths so I have always been confident that my son would not choke on these. However, always remember to supervise your child at all times while they are eating. These biscuits are egg free and suitable for vegetarians. Each biscuit contains 20 calories on 0.5g of fat and so I do allow myself to join in with Jake -guilt free!! Recommended - look out for them on offer - Boots often have them on 2 packs for £1.50 also!
