Advantages: Moreish, full of flavour
Disadvantages: Not enough in a packet
I have decided to write a review on Hula Hoops due to polishing off 3 packets last night whilst watching tv. I like to snack on alsorts whilst watching tv and crisps are usually at the top of the list.
I was in Morrisons last night down the crisp aisle looking for something tasty as I had ran out of crisps a couple of days earlier. The only reason I actually bought Hula Hoops is because they were on offer. A multipack of 7 packets was being sold for 60p. Well to me that is most certainly a bargain. I'm a big fan of the BBQ beef flavour and also the Cheese & Onion flavour. So I thought at such a great price I would buy both.
One multipack contained 7 BBQ beef flavour and the other contained 2 Cheese & Onion, 2 Salt & Vinegar and 3 Original flavour. Each individual packet contains 25g so unfortunately they had gone pretty quick.
All flavours are made with 100% sunflower oil and have no artificial colours, flavours or MSG. Each flavour also contains: Milk, Wheat, Gluten, Soya and Mustard.
The original salted potato rings packet of 25g contains 129 calories, 0.8g of protein, 15.4g of carbohydrates, 7.1g of fat and 0.2g of sodium.
I like every single flavour in the hula hoops range but as I said before BBQ beef & Cheese & Onion will always be my first choice. The packet of BBQ beef flavour I consumed all too quickly last night were very strong in flavour and had a definite kick to them. They were ridiculously moreish which is why I found myself eating a second and a third bag. Each flavour is very prominent and I have not come across a packet yet that didnt taste delicious. They are very crunchy crisps which is fine as long as you dont eat pack after pack. After a while all that crunching can start to give you a bit of jaw ache, but I did manage to work my way through that.
What I dont get about Hula Hoops is that on the pack of each packet there is a game to play using the contents, such as building a pyramid or tap dancing. I personally dont feel the need to play with my food so I have yet to be tempted into playing one of the games. I'm sure there are alot of children out there who would be happy to give it ago though, so i'll leave it to them.
Overall this are great crisps and if your a crisp lover then give these a try if you havent already. One other good thing about them is all flavours even the BBQ beef are suitable for vegetarians & the packets are recyclable.
