What can I say about Twiglets?..well, like Marmite, you either love them or you hate them. There doesn't seem to be much in between with this snack. Actually, I love them and have done since I can remember. My brother and I used to have them as a snack...a few Twiglets on a plate with some fruit and a glass of milk, before bedtime. this is going back a few decades so I suppose that Twiglets must have been going for some time.


My husband hates them and can't even stand their smell. My children are split down the middle as to liking them- two do and two don't. Well, that's fair!


What exactly are twiglets?


Well, they are not, as we were told as children, twigs but are 'crunchy savoury whole wheat sticks' with a spicy sauce on them. They look like twigs and taste savoury and are very crunchy.


They are made by Jacobs and can be bought in various packs- large packs and large packs containing small individual packs, mini packs, large party packs and fun party size. The fun party size are in fact smaller Twiglets but they taste every bit as nice.


I see from the pack that each 25g serving contains :


Calories - 96

Sugars - 0.2g

Fat - 2.9g

Saturates - 1.3g

salt - 0.5g


They are baked, have no artificial colour and are high in fibre...personally I eat them just because I like them and it's not as if I would eat lots in one go. Although, saying this I find them very more- ish.


You have to eat them quickly or the sauce gets sticky on your hands.


I buy them mainly for parties and special treats. At family parties I put them out in small dishes along with the peanuts and crisps. I find that the Twiglets have to be replaced before the other snacks so, either they are very popular OR, those who like Twiglets have big appetites! (To put it politely!)
