Cereal bar similar to Nature Valley ones but taste a lot like marzipan.

I recently recommended that my boyfriend try these cereal bars from Jordans as he was after a healthy snack to take to work. I love the Nature Valley granola bars but it really annoys me that they are packaged in pairs. Seeing that these looked similar and were on offer at £1.60 for 9 bars, I chose these for him.

On day one I received a text telling me that the bars were ok but tasted like marzipan! My boyfriend is a pretty fussy eater and when he doesn't like something, tends to exaggerate the description! So when I ran out of Chewee bars I decided to get a box of these Crunchy bars as they were still on offer at Morrisons.

I hate being wrong but my gosh he was right, they did taste of marzipan, which is something I don't like! I was hungry at the time so rater than giving up I carried on with the bar and found that I actually got used to the taste. The bars are very crunchy and therefore make quite a lot of crumbs, and the almond taste (7%) is obviously the more prominent hence the marzipan effect. I would have liked to taste more honey (4.5%) in the bars really.

After a week of having these for my packed lunches I have grown to the taste but think in future I will chose something else, especially now that the offer is over.

The bars are also available in butterscotch or coconut, neither of which I fancy really.

At 142 calories per bar, they are not a bad snack and are obviously healthier than a chocolate bar, as they contain lots of natural goodness. Anyone who likes marzipan will surely like these.
