      Advantages

      Disadvantages

Great as a little nibble inbetween meals.

Kelloggs mini breaks, come in little plastic bags and they contain crunchy multi grain bites. They are little biscuits type of cereal bites, and are suppossed to be a little bite that you can have between meals.

They taste quite nice crisp but also with a nutty taste and an oaty taste.

The bag contains no more than approximately thirteen little bites, and the grandchildren love them, I brought them to give to the grandchildren as an alternative to sweet that they usually consume in between meals, and I would say that they are quite nice as the children dont leave any in their packets.

      Ingredients :

cereals, rice, wheat flour, whole oats, wholewheat, rice flour, sugar, vegtable oil, wheat gluten, gloucose, syrup, defatted wheatgerm, dried skimmed milk, partially inverted sugar, syrup, salt, oat fibre, barley malt, flavouring, raising agents, e500, e450a, emulsifier soy lexithin, folic acid, vitamin b12.

The only thing I will say about them and have deducted a star from this review is the fact that they can be a little dry, but the zesty lemon flavouring does add a little freshness to these biscuits. They can be purchased five packets for less than £2.30pence at your local supermarket.

      Allergy advice :

These contain milk, soy, wheat oats and barley.

      Made 030211, use by 011011.

Each little packet contains 24 grams.

The packet has Kelloggs Special K with a red K mini breaks written across the front, original perfect for nibbling.

They taste really nice kind of like a breakfast cereal but with a little extra in them, they come in little squares and the children like them, especially the little one who is teething and likes them to chew on.

I enjoyed them as they are only 99 calories a bag, and less fatterning than a packet of crisps.

Calories 99 per 5 percent of your adult G.D.A's.

These are a great idea for popping into your handbag should you fancy a little nibble in between meals, and are great to pop into your bag if you are in a hurry in the morning and miss your breakfast cereals.

I think they are great to pop into a childs lunchtime box as well, as you will save in the knowledge that they are not having sweets or crisps, and they do contain a few healthy cereal ingredients.

Thanks for reading and rating my reviews.

      Disadvantages

      have chocolate instead

I have been trying to go on a diet quite a few times but most of the times I failed. One of my biggest weaknesses is that I love to have a snack between the meals so to stop that, I purchased Kellogg's Special K Mini Breaks Zesty Lemon.

They come in small white bags and each of them has the nutritional information displayed very clearly on the front. The design is nice but it isn't anything special. What is most important is that each small bag has only 100 calories!

According to the producer, Lemon Mini Breaks are 'golden oats, wheat and rice baked into deliciously crunchy, thin, zesty lemon, biscuity bites'. It sounds very yummy but it isn't really. Yes, they are crunchy but I found them extremely dry and each time I was nibbling, I had to drink something to go with it. At the same time, dunking them in a cup of tea or coffee wasn't a good idea - it was digusting! The citrus flavour was OK, a bit artificial but no more than other lemon cakes or biscuits.

All of them are in a shape of little parallelograms but you won't even notice when you finish the entire bag of this little things. Each bag contains around 12 pieces and it won't make you really full (in fact, it made me crave for more).

A good thing about them is that they aren't very sweet - they won't make you feel sick but again, they will make you want more.

It may contain soy, wheat, oat, barley and milk ingredients. It is suitable for vegetarian.

Overall, I think that if you want to have a 100-kcal snack, than just have a piece of chocolate bar. It will taste much better!

5 bags of Mini Breaks costs around £2.30.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        A versatile tasty snack

Not being a massive cereral fan (hate milk!) I was looking for something I could eat for breakfast. Ideally it would be something quick, easy and I could eat on the go as I don't really have time for breakfast in the morning. With that in mind I thought I would try these special K mini breaks.

I knew special K did the cereal that you can do the diet on but didn't really know much beyond that in terms of how healthy they are. These snack bags are only 99 calories per bag (24g). They come individually sealed in a box of 5. I have never seen them sold separately but you may be able to get them as such. 5 is perfect for me as thats one pack every day of the working week.

There are several flavours you can get; a lemon flavour, a chocolate flavour and an original flavour. I would have thought I would like the chocolate flavour as it would give me a bit of the chocolate fix I always crave but surprisingly I didn't enjoy those very much. The taste was nowhere near as nice as the original, which is the ones I now buy weekly.

The mini breaks themselves are small squares of multigrain cereal. I think they are the perfect size and taste really nice. I'm not really a grains and oats person but I like them. Sometimes I dip them in yoghurt too which is also very tasty! You don't get a huge amount in a packet (they are only 24g) but I usually find its about the right amount.

At £2.10 for a box of 5 (this rises to £2.29 if you go for the chocolate ones) I do find them a bit steep in price. If they are on offer this makes them a little better but they rarely are. Sometimes you can find things like this in your local poundshop so I will have to look out for these although, as always with those shops, watch the expiration date!

Nowadays I find I don't just have them for breakfast, I may have them with my lunch or as a snack between meals. I find them a versatile snack which is useful.

Special K Mini Breaks - Zesty Lemon

I am not a lover of Special K cereal and have never seen what all the hype is all about. I find it fairly bland and tasteless but that's just my opinion. When I was doing my online shop recently I came across Special K Mini Bites on offer for just £1 a box. As they offered various flavours as well as original I thought I would give Zesty Lemon and the chocolate ones a go.

        Packaging

Mini Breaks are packaged in a cardboard box and contain 5 freshly sealed foil packets. Each packet contains 24g of mini breaks so basically the same size as a packet of crisps. The design is based on the Original K cereal box so is easy to spot amongst other snacks on the shelf. The are the ideal size for popping into your children's lunchbox and are great for a quick sweet treat.

        Mini Breaks

Mini Breaks are small squares made up of cereal and topped with oat pieces. They are very crunchy and are a perfect alternative to other diet food snacks. They are very sweet and in my opinion they taste of cheesecake. The lemon flavour is very zingy but not to the point of being un-edible.

The best thing about them is that they contain just 98 calories which works out to 5% of your recommended daily allowance. They are a great treat at any time of the day and mine replace the normal bag of crisps that I usually take to work with me.

The downside is that there is only about 10 - 12 pieces per pack and they seem to be gone in no time. It would probably be better to have a pot of dried cereal on your desk to pick at. I also don't like that I am left with a weird texture in my mouth from the flavouring - it's hard to describe really.

The normal price of these are around the £2 mark which is not a bad price but there are cheaper products on the market that would be a little more filling. They are also available in chocolate and original flavours.

Wait for special promotions to save money

When I first saw that these small bags by one of my favourite cereal companies (Kellogg's) were less than one hundred calories each and come in a citrus flavour, I jumped at a bag (Literally and got quite a few stares in the supermarket). To be honest I had quite high expectations - were they met?

          Packaging

They come in small, white bags with the brand name, the prodcut name and the nutritional information of the back - nothing special, functional and clear. Kellogg's claim that these small bites can help beat cravings and stop you snacking on rubbish during the day, a very appealing promise. Each bag is 24g and contains around 11 - 13 biscuity bites, so perfect for as part of a lunch box or as a snack at work. However, I was more interested in what the contents of the bag tasted like ...

          Nutritional Information

These are suitable for vegetarians but do contain soy, wheat, barley, oat and milk ingredients so may be unsuitable for some allergies.

          The Taste

Upon opening the bag, you are confronted with about 12 biscuits, about the size of two postage stamps. The look oaty and nutty and very appetizing with a slight golden hue.

The taste is not dissimilar to the Special K cereal, but I have my doubt if I would have put the two of them together in a blind taste test. They have a very pleasing crunch to them as you bite down on them, and have a very nice, lemony taste which is exceedingly refreshing. If there were more in a bag, I would probably eat them but wouldn't need to - there are just the right amount per bag.

          Value for money

Currently retailing for about £2 (or a bit over) for a box of five, these are quite good value at 40p per bag. However, I can't help feeling that a bag of 5 apples could give me the same crunch and sweetness whilst being a lot light on the pockets and quite a bit lighter on the calorie count. I would advise that, if you do really like these bags, stock up when there are special promotions just to save a bit more money.

          Overall

In conclusion, I would say that these small bags of oaty goodness are very delicious, and not too morish, but not necessarily worth the price. I will only be buying these regularly unless there is a discount on them.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

They did not pass my taste test!

Well I'm still on the quest to find that ultimate feel good low fat snack! The latest I have tried is this new one from Special K - zesty lemon mini breaks.

You get 24 grams in a small packet which is absolutely ideal for putting in your handbag, so it's an ideal snack for if you are out and about! On the packet it says that they are 'perfect for nibbling' so if you are the sort of person who likes to 'graze' all day you might want to try these.

You can buy 5 bags in a box. It says on the packaging that they are made from golden oats, wheat and rice that is baked into deliciously crunchy thin biscuit bites. There is a symbol stating that they are suitable for vegetarians too.

If you eat a whole packet you will not be consuming more than 99 calories so that is very good news too! That is about 5% of an adult's guideline daily allowance. Looking at the nutritional values on the box as well, I can see that every thing is pretty low. The worst is sugars at 7 grams but that is only 7% GDA. Fat is 2 grams, saturates are 0.8 grams and salt is 0.2 grams. All in all then it is looking like a pretty healthy snack.

There are about a dozen of these bite sized snacks in a packet. They are probably about 2 cm squared and look very attractive. They are a slightly golden colour and look like a sort of biscuit with lots of seeds in. There is a slight trace of lemon when you smell them.

So the big question is what do they taste like? Being a lover of lemon and a regular breakfast consumer of Special K I did feel that I was likely to be onto a winner! Luckily, when I first tasted one I was quite impressed. The mixture of all the ingredients, particularly with a strong taste of lemon, did work well. The texture is quite dry though which did not really appeal so much, although leave it for a while on your tongue and it does have a melting effect.I do like the taste (but don't expect it to taste anything like your morning cereal!) but the texture does put me off wanting to eat too many. This is a shame because they do have the potential to be very nice. They do also come in original and chocolate flavours and it makes me wonder whether the chocolate ones would be any less dry.

I bought the packet of 5 in Sinsburys for £1.99. This means that each individual packet costs about 40 pence which is fairly reasonable but it is worth looking out for offers.

My overall verdict is that these were OK but they did not really enthuse me in any way. I guess my quest for that perfect snack will continue!
