Hula Hoops used to be everywhere - in every shop you can think of. Now, not so much. I'm not sure why the difference, perhaps it's just some weird rose-tinted memory from my childhood.
Anyway, if you don't know about them (somehow) Hula Hoops are a type of crisp-like potato snack shaped in ring-like hoops (hence the name.) This tends to lead to children (and maybe me ) putting them on their fingers and then eating them off their fingers. You can also roll them around plates etc. Again, I'm clearly completely and utterly mature.
The ready salted, as far as I'm concerned, are actually the best hula hoops - they are quite salty (again, hence the name) but there's something about a hula hoop that just tastes the best in this flavour. Again, maybe nostalgia has something to do with it.
They come in little red packets which are smaller than they used to be (story of the times) but still gives you a decent amount of hula hoops. Enough for a fairly decent snack in a hurry, or addition to lunch. Due to the saltiness, you may well want to have a drink on hand.
They aren't the healthiest snack in the world - what with all the salt, for a start. But neither are they as bad for you as a 30 inch chocolate cake (ooh, now I want one of those...dammit!) So as long as you keep all things in the dreaded and difficult moderation, you should be fine.
