A good loaf of bread at a reasonable price from Marks & Spencer

Whilst you may buy some loaves of Bread that do not seem to stay so soft after a few days of use, this Bread from Marks & Spencer is the exception. Sometimes I find that with these general loaves of Bread, the crusts get hard after a few days and I end up sometimes throwing some of it away.

It was my partner that told me about this bread; Marks & Spencer do another ordinary loaf, but in my view it's much better to buy thus one. They do this Bread in a Medium and Thick sliced loaf but I'm not sure if they do a Brown Bread version.

Marks & Spencer describe this loaf as 'bread made with the best quality white Flour for an exceptionally soft Loaf'.

Wheat flour, Soya Flour, Water, Vegetable oils, Fermented wheat flour, Salt, Yeast, Flour treatment agent (Ascorbic acid)

      *Allergy Information*

Contains soya, wheat, gluten. Not suitable for sesame allergy sufferers due to manufacturing methods used.

Each slice of bread contains 95kcals.

The cost of this loaf is around £1.19. It's well worth the price; this is cheaper than some other well-known brands, but the real difference is, its softness and freshness; highly recommend. Its 5 Dooyoo stars from me.

An ok, every day loaf of bread....this is!

Whilst out shopping recently in our town centre my Mother called me and said will you get a loaf of bread. In Coventry we have very little choice in way of places to get a loaf from at short notice and I was stood outside Marks & Spencers at the time so it made sense for me to run in and grab a loaf in there! They had so many varieties I got a bit lost but in the end this costing about £1.15 grabbed my attention so I bought it.

      The Packaging:

Long white and clear plastic wrapper with a dash of burgundy blocks of colour on it. I'm told it is Marks & Spencers Medium Sliced Super Soft White Bread 'Made with the best quality white flour for an exceptionally soft loaf'. Other information on the bag includes ingredients and allergy advice being listed, storage instructions (this is freezable of course), it's suitable for Vegetarians too, the size is stated (which is 800g), there is a full nutritional rundown chart on there and finally contact details for Marks & Spencers are given. It's a nice looking wrapper, easy to open and in keeping style wise with the rest of the food offerings in Marks so it doesn't look cheap or anything and it's informative enough too.

      The Bread:

Well this is a standard loaf and you get about 16 slices in here give or take a couple of slices. It is medium sliced and I did expect it to be a bit thicker as it wasn't much different to a standard loaf but the slices were large in diameter.

The bread itself is bouncy, white with light golden crusts to the edges of it and of course there are two thick crusts included on the ends of the loaf. When you open the bag you get a waft of a fresh bread smell and it feels fresh (even if you freeze and defrost this and use it).

Taste wise this is ok really. It's rather moist though and does go to mush in a doughy form as you chew it though like I say it tastes fresh and it's nicely seasoned.

I found it wasn't too airy to toast and it didn't crisp up to much due to it's thickness, I made eggy bread with it and ate sandwiches made with it and all were fine. My only complaint about it really was the doughiness of it all.

Nothing special but I like the thickness and overall size of it and do appreciate it's freshness even when it's been in the freezer for a while. I did expect thicker slices and for me it's a tad to moist but I wouldn't turn my nose up at this bread if I was offered it but at the same time I wouldn't go out of my way to re-purchase it in the future.

      Allergy Advice:

      Contains: Soya, wheat, gluten.
Made in a factory that uses sesame ingredients.
