Disadvantages: none if you like a full on flavour
Crisps are a snack that I often eat and indeed I have reviewed a good few varieties here on Dooyoo in the past. Generally I tend to stick to Seabrook's as I like their salt and vinegar flavour, but as Tesco are currently selling a 6 pack of McCoy's at half price - 75p - I thought I'd give these a try for a change.
The bag im going to review here is the salt and vinegar flavoured one as like I say this is my favourite flavour. Dark blue in colour the foil fresh pack tells you that these are "The Real McCoy's" and that they are "Ridge Cut" salt and malt vinegar flavoured. You are informed that they contain 30% less saturated fat than they used to but still have the same great taste.
Opening the bag you are met with the sight of thick crinkle cut crisps, slightly thicker than other well known brands and the aroma of the vinegar is noticeable. As soon as you put one on your tongue you can taste the intense flavour, these certainly do pack a punch. I had forgotten how strong these crisps actually were and I really enjoyed the packet. I'm actually in a bit of a quandary now as Seabrook's had always been my favourite brand, but now after tasting these from McCoy's I may be making a permanent switch to them.
Even though there are a multi-pack bag it still contains 32g of crisps which is more than in the Walkers equivalent and about the same as Seabrook's, so value for money wise these are very good. Nutritional information reveals that a single bag contains:
17.0 carbs, of which 0.3g are sugars
9.7g fat of which 2.0g are saturates
So seem comparable with other brands as well.
If you like a crisp that gives a full on flavour then I would recommend these, at the moment I have only tried the salt and vinegar flavour so can't comment on cheese and onion or ready salted flavours. For me though I have to say I was very impressed. The crisps themselves as well as being full of flavour crunched nicely and a bag more than satisfied my taste buds.
A definite 5/5 Dooyoo stars for me and seeing as how they are on offer at the moment in Tesco I will be stocking up on them.
Summary: see above, thanks for reading.
