I like McCoys Crisps because the ridge cut ones are so fabulously crunchy and thick that they are really satisfying to eat. When I spotted a big multipack in Poundland with the sizzling prawn flavour inside I thought I had to buy them to try this flavour that was new to me.
I like Prawn Cocktail crisps and when I had the first few bites of the McCoys one, I was a bit disappointed. The flavour was really strong but it just seemed like any other prawn cocktail crisps. Nice but where was the promised spicy sizzle. Well after I had ate a few more I definitely found out. If you just eat a few there is not much heat. But there's a real spiciness that creeps up on you. My mouth got quite hot by the time I finished the packet. Actually I think the flavour was a bit too spicy for me to really enjoy because I was dying for a cool drink. I don't know what spices I am supposed to taste exactly but it just tastes tangy hot.
I did like the texture of the crisps because like all McCoys they are really crispy. The ridge cut means they are crinkly and a bit thicker than some potato crisps. So lots of satisfaction in that pack.
I would recommend these crisps if you like prawns and spice but if you don't like too much heat, maybe stick to the safer Walkers Prawn Cocktail crisps.
